Yeah, that long wagon seems to be the norm anymore. I have pulled rail trailers that were 48 hauling meat on hooks. I don't think they make a 53 footer like that
48x96 obsolete?

Yeah. I would and do. But he is so jaded about this industry. He is another one that thinks the world is gonna end. Since I have been back on the road here and have had a chance to talk to some real o/o I have a few leads. Not many but a few.

My dad has gotten to be the same way about the trucking industry. Don't really blame him, but he's a gold mine of info if I can get him to share.

Have you tried lookin into haulin steel. Not sure of what is specific width they like, but i know most haulin 48'.
-
Most places I go specifically put "no unsecured vans" in the shipping instructions. So not having chain ties in the floor or "D" rings may hurt you on some skidded steel loads.

I haul bulk potatoes... believe it or not CH Robison has some pretty good rates out of Wisconsin.
Call the Russet Potato Exchange in Bancroft, WI... they ship table spuds.
Sowinski, Black Gold, B&G Farms, Nationwide out of Plainfield, WI is another... you can also try Plainfield Trucking....Lilbit Thanks this. -
We have some 96x45 foot old reefer trailers we use...Pulled the reefers off and can get 50000 on most of them that way...Back hauls can be a pain to find...Put I have bounced back to get back under taters faster...If you are in cotton country you can get cotton seed coming back to the dairy farms in WI...Its a cheap haul but gets you a few bucks to get home...And most farmers will unload you day/night and weekends...Looks like most of the bulk taters are slowing down in WI...Mi and ND are next and I hear they are digging in FL and field hauling them now....

Allot of spuds in southern NJ also. And WA, but most of those go to CA.
