You can still use it! Just sharing it with a lot of other drivers. I know I share my CB handle with several others, including a new member here!:biggrin_25525:

I think if I came on and announced to all that could hear.. that they should call me the "Repo Man"... I'd be laughed at. Handles are cool for old guys and fans of Smokey and the Bandit, but I haven't heard anyone use one in years.

I go by Flying Dutchman to the local base station crowd...but on the road, no one asks, and when driving at work, well, they all know my first name (and my voice, lol)

That's funny, here on the east coast it seems like everyone uses a handle of some sort. They may not use just one like they did back in the day but you normally don't hear, "hey Joe!" "hey what's up Bob?!". I have 3 handles I go by and talk to tons of people on a daily basis that use handles. Guess it must be different in other parts of the country.

I go by Lilbit, but haven't had a CB in my car in awhile now. One of these days, I'll get a CB in the car again. Maybe even in the house! Hubby has a couple that he uses out there, and still gets asked what he goes by once in awhile.

Well there are still drivers out there who run enough power to get over top of 98% of the people out there and are helpful. When I had an assigned truck I would make sure everyone knew of road hazards, bears, and helped drivers who weren't familiar with the area find their way. People like me who run decent power and aren't jerks are few and far between but there are still people out there that can be nice and helpful.

    No doubt...

I keep my volume low & reasonably squelched, mostly listening to music. The only time I turn up the CB is if I hear a clear voice, not over modulated, and no crazy echo or beeps, then it might be someone worth trying to talk to. Believe it or not, there is a decent setting for echo. I choose not to run it, but 99% of the guys that do have it all wrong.
