Is this thread gonna get HI-JACKED ? :biggrin_2553: To keep it going right........ I run a 13 speed with 3:70's powered by a kitty. But I've thinking when the rear end goes maybe R/R with 3:55's or 3:36's.

18 with a C15 Cat and 3:23's on 24's , this was the set up on my old truck , good milage and lots of bottom end torque ,

as the detroit vs cat thing , when a new detroit is used in a bulldozer let me know .theres a reason why they use cats and cummins in off road equipment , and there noise don't mean squat !

I don't care for Detroit's either, but why did CAT get outta the truck engine business?

IIRC it was because of the pollution issue. Quite a loss to us, the only other real choice is an ISX, if you're lucky enough to afford a new one.:biggrin_25519:

:biggrin_2558:N-14 programmed at 450 HP, 13 over, 4.11 gears, 24.5 tires. I do not want a FAST truck, but I do want one that will pull good. I like a 9 speed, but do not care for a regular 10 speed.

Remember the old turned around 10 speeds? Made it like a double over drive, with ninth and tenth gears reversed on the shift pattern.:biggrin_2551:

Guess you forgot about drop and hook, too.
This delivery at Dollar General I made, I pulled through from the row behind and dropped in the assigned row. No backing needed!

Drove several 15s done that way. Those old trannys sure shifted better than these new junks. Hot knife thru butter.
