Talking about old radio's I have a Galaxy Pluto but set up as a 88. I also have a Galaxy 44 in my 4 wheeler which I traded for a Cobra 29 GTL which i bought back in 1980 or 81, anyways it was a great radio but I love my GALAXY.

I have three radios I will not part with.

Uniden pc66, Ranger 2950 (old style) and my Galaxy 44.

Of the three my Galaxy is my favorite.

Had one for years, but my cobra's and unidens put it to shame. I just don't like the crunchy sound that a conexx radio puts out. I prefer a more "broadcast" sound.

Hard to say...Guess it depends on what you want on the radio, or if your going to be running a Amp with it...

IMO, it's hard to beat the audio of the General Lee...

But the Cobra 29 LX LE IMO is the Best of the 29's to date...

Uniden Grant XL. Not a powerhouse, but thats what amps are for. The receive on this radio is the best in the business, any better and you're in ham radio. I also like the layout, its straight foward without all the fluff, knobs are a decent size, not too big or small. My only beef with this radio, besides being discontinued, is the fact the mic mounts on the side.
