Hello, I'm a 14 year company driver who came here hunting for a better job, and while I was here I decided to join because I kept coming across newbie questions I could answer. I like to snow ski, LOVE surfing (but never get to do it any more), and reading (mostly ancient and post Renaissance history, and also science fiction.)
Archeologists learn about peoples of the past by going through their trash (what they chose to leave behind) and by going through their stuff (what they kept or carried with them.) If anyone ever digs up my rig they will find Books mostly, and a harmonica, a small Matsukov telescope, 3 ipods, a laptop, 2 pairs of running shoes, clothes, extreme cold weather clothes (including a parka that keeps you warm at 65 below zero [and I've needed it]), a hardhat, fashion safety glasses, a good pocket knife, and LOTS of food that doesn't need refrigeration, including some that is very high in animal fat in case I'm stuck --or trapped -- in cold weather. Also a large box of candles and tin cans to burn them in (keeps the truck livable, if not warm, in case I'm not able to idle the engine.) If Americans ever get the right to keep and bear arms the archeologists will find a reliable sidearm as well.

Welcome to the party!

10-4 on the sidearm! Welcome to the forum.

A party? Now that I think about it, that's exactly what this place is: a bunch of people with similar interests, all in the same (virtual) space, lots of laughter, some teasing, a few drunks and the occasional fight. There are also people networking, looking for opportunities, and those who are just saying hello to people they haven't spoken to in a while. In other words, a party! Not a bad description at all.
Thanks for the welcome, Lilbit.Lilbit Thanks this. -
Howdy do and welcome to the asylum.

Thanks Harry, its always great to be welcomed into a party, and even better to get a warm welcome right at the door. I'm looking forward to finding a unique way to contribute.

Hey there TN! This might surprise you but I've already read quite a few of your posts (good stuff) and yes, this particular party does sometimes resemble an asylum (or at least one of the rowdier truck stops.) I wouldn't have it any other way -- humanity can get messy but that's when we are at our most brilliant. Thanks for the welcome!
