He will most likely have to look at the most undesirable companies around and beg for a chance. Among the worst things for your driving career are alcohol, drugs, violence, reckless driving and rollover accidents. Under the right conditions these can be career enders.

You gave no details about his driving record or the circumstances leading to this accident. Without any details there is no way to guess what he is facing.

With all due respect, improper driving for someone who makes a living driving is a pretty serious offense.

Do you have any idea what this accident cost the insurance and/or the company? Just asking because if you could put a dollar figure on the loss, maybe you wouldn't be talking about "they knocked the ticket down", "does not carry any points or suspension", "Yet, the company he worked for canned him". Then you would be talking about the seriousness of this accident, the cost of it, accepting responsibility for it and how he could maybe take a driving course to make him more desirable as a professional driver.

I laid a truck on its side more than thirty years ago. It was my own truck. The company I was leased to terminated my lease. My insurance went from $3,000 per year to $10,000 per year and Lloyds Of London was the only company that would insure me. My truck and trailer value was just over $80,000 with nearly $30,000 worth of damage. My $10,000 load of apples and pears was pretty much a complete loss. I imagine this accident today would cost between $80,000 and $110,000.

While a bit harsh the point of my post is to get you to be more realistic and understand this is not a bobo, it is a major screw up. The only realistic outcome, regardless of the driving offense, was termination. Time to prove this won't happen again is the only thing that will fix his problem. Until then it is a matter of finding a desperate company that will risk a major liability to give him a chance. I'm sorry I am not better at candy-coating the facts, but having lived through this nightmare, I'm not talking down to you either.
