what company did you choose to go with and tell us a little bit about your experience so far with that company

the training pay isnt that important to me because i have a very supportive girlfriend and no kids plus she has a good enough job that we wouldnt need my income for the first couple months, plus we're gonna have money put back to take care of "my part of the bills"

so my next question is; why do you risk loosing your truck if you stay home more than 5 days, if you were out for 10 weeks and in theory have 10 days off at home....

Most companies including Stevens limits youe days at home to a max of 5 days or they will take the truck. Think about it. That truck is very expensive running or not. They cant just let it sit around not making money.

You will still get a truck assigned to you when you return, just not the same truck.

Hope everything works out for you to! If your compairing working with Stevens as like being in Iraq or Afganastan I am sorry you feel that being over there is so simple. I wish none of our troops ever had to go there. I would much rather they stayed here and worked for Stevens. I would have 2 of my good friends with me still and there kids would have a dad that they could grow up with. I dont know who you think you are that you take going there so lightly and that its a big joke. Maybe you are one person that should go there and have your family suffer. What ever company you go with I am glad for you and that its not Stevens cause I would not want to have to work beside someone that is so shallow as you. If you dont have kids then someday you might and I hope you never have to suffer what other parents and family members have. You make me sick and am sorry I just waisted 5 min of my time on you!!

i understand the reasoning behind why they would pull the truck, but it just sucks because then you have to figure out how to get all your stuff into your "new" truck.... and then im sure you have to figure out how to get to the yard also....

This is a tough situation. They have a storage area at the yard that they will put all your stuff in and will put it in containers to secure it. When you come back they will issue you another truck and you can go from there. But yes if your like me and you live in Michigan and you want to take a 2 week vac you have to try and hook a ride with someone going that way or cough up some $$ to get there. This is common with a lot of companys, but some companys have numerious yards around the U.S. that you can drop at and Stevens only has the Dallas one. I believe this to be true, if someone knows different please correct me.

I can't imagine they would even let you take time off in that way, it won't be an option. If you lived in Dallas TX they might consider it as they wouldn't have to deal with the logistical problem of moving trucks around.

you want to take a two week vacation, you are routed to the yard, to clean out your truck, and then you take your vacation..
After vacation, you return to the yard, are issued another truck, you restock it, and on your way you go... not a hard concept to grasp, Stevens and most companies can not afford to have their assets setting idle.

Or as an alliance operator, I drop the trailer at a preapproved location, and I take my vacation. So longs as my payments stay current, all is good... and that is what my home time account is for.

I am going to a truck school her in Maine on sept 12 I have my app in with Stevens.

I have done a lot of research on the various trucking co out there. You and the corporal have been a good source of information. I was a bit set back with the low starter pay. But I figure if I got my license through a private driving school and there for cut out a lot of time.

Stevens seems to have very good equipment.

So we have to get our own fridge and such?

you can buy and put your own fridge in or use a cooler. Stevens provides the APU, Inverter. You provide the micro, fridge or whatever else.
