Think it means something different to quite a few people. Where I am from, both Montana and Northern California have a lot of the same kind of people. Lot of rednecks, loggers, cowboys, farmers, ranchers, white priders ets... I see tons of 4X's, pickups, even cars with redneck stickers on them. People wearing shirts or hats with Redneck on it, even Tats. The redneck decal in the back window of 4X4's is really common along with the always popular No Fear, Fear This, Monster, ets... Rear window decals. Lot of people take pride in being from the country. Some people stereotype redneck as stupid and toothless, some people sterio type redneck as mountain men and women, others think of them as another word for country folk. I know I shouldnt bring up racism in this forum, but been surrounded (I am not racist, just been around a lot of the type, by geographical circumstance) by lots of differnt White Priders most of life. From Pecker woods, and other little runnoff W/P groups, which own N. CA to the Aryon Brotherhood ets..up north. Redneck is a symbol most identify with in the same aspects as the Rebel Flag, although the flag has its own meaning its still kind of the same. A lot of different perceptions in regards to the true meaning of that one word.
Think geography has a lot to do with how you perceive the word Redneck or even what the stereotype of Redneck is. The people who put the decals in there rear windows, wear shirts, tats ets... certainly dont think the stereotype means stupid or any of those things. More of just country hardliner, country boy or girl, cowboy or girl ets...

Redneck, the original meaning, did mean something good. Some words change meanings over time. Take the words sick, and evil for two. At one time, those were not good. Listen to the kids now a days, those are compliments now. Strange and interesting.
We've got quite a few rednecks up here. I guess it's your pointe of view if it's good or not.
At one time, a hillbilly was a Michigan dirt farmer, now it's someone from WV. Qh well, it's just a word, the person is what matters, good or bad.

Funny how anything that has to do with being from the south, or farming, or anything out of the norm for "city people", you're automatically tagged a dumb redneck. People that think that really need to pay attention the next time they look in the mirror, and try to figure out where that ######### staring back at them came from.bigredsterling, BigJohn54, NWMAXI and 1 other person Thank this.

Like i said, just dumb redneck "thinking."
There are some legitimate questions being asked and yet they get shutdown by "administration." And yet, this thread continues to be allowed?
We, as a society, really need to get our heads on straight and get our priorities on track. "Administration" also needs to get their heads out of their butts. -
Well excuse me for asking a legitimate question, I'll remember next time to PM you and ask if any question I'm considering posting meets YOUR standards.
Really, I'd like to know what your problem is with this thread.BigJohn54 and trucker_101 Thank this. -
Why should an explanation of nostalgia and tradition be prevented? I, for one relish the stories from the veterans about "Trucking as it used to be."
It's one of the reasons I got into trucking, the great stories my dad and his friends could (and did) tell.
I also think that one should have at least a rudimentary understanding of your profession's history.johnday and trucker_101 Thank this. -
I'm easily confused, so I don't get it either. I don't think I've ever said or done anything to him. He's not a troll, he's been here a while.

too bad them city people don't realize that without rednecks or ( people like me ) they wouldn't have food, or shelter, or anything they take for granted!!!

Has it crossed any ones mind that maybe the city kids are the ones that are odd?
NWMAXI Thanks this. -
Cow bells were to locate cows in the feilds or woods and when the expansion west was ongoing so that if a cow got away from the wagon train they could be followed by the bell ringing! Not all of the settlers were trackers even if a cow left a trail a blind man could follow!
It just became a 'thing" with cattle haulers to hang one off the back of the trailer so they could "find" their load when coming back to the truck after dinner at the truck stop or at the slaughter house.
Then the "fairy tale" about Gremlins came about when things mechanical started and when they broke down it was "Gremlins" that caused it.
The ringing of bells would keep them away because Gremlins can't stand the sound of bells.
Also every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings!
Hence cow bells were put on bumpers of things other than rolling barnyards! Well almost! Some "super truckers did it to look cool!"
I kept a small "Gremlin Bell"one on all my bikes for years and one on my key ring. I kept most of the Gremlins away. I think!
Another thing to go with the biker Gremlin bell story. A real Gremlin bell must be given as a gift or it doesn't work. A brother biker would give a friend one to hang on the bike. Mine are gifts from friends long gone but they still are with me!johnday and bigredsterling Thank this.
