Trurbo that per diem post you made should be stickied.

And Pat they should tell you how much they take out for the 12 cpm. It's just a portion.

im really confussed, so do most companys just offer this as a option? Or do most companys require it?? Sounds like to me the company just wants to scam their drivers in to doing this. Can you just write that stuff off at the end of the year?? I mean if they are suppose to reimburse you from ur living expenses they why do they take out a certain percentage per mile?? Makes no sense to me and I will have no part of it:blah5:

They gave us the option for this in this week's orientation at Roehl. I was about to sign up for it tomorrow before reading this post. One more reason to love this site!

it also depends on what state you live in and if you own or rent a house, talk to an accountant.

The thing that ticks me off about Roehl's per diem is that they take away 11.5 cents and only give back 10 cents tax free. Where does the other cent and a half go? Supposedly its for administrative costs. I did it for a year though. My weekly checks were bigger, but my tax return was smaller. I am also contributing less to ssi and my 401k. Roehl or any company doesn't do anything unless its good for them also. Just like their subsidized cdl school and honor program for military people. Also, anytime there is a company wide pay raise magically the insurance rates go up too. Roehl does hand out a pamphlet that does explain it pretty well. It also shows who would and wouldn't benefit the most from it( depending on what state you live, marital status and renting or owning a house).

Why would that be a bad thing? You should not want to get anything back from the gov't at all. All you are doing is giving them an interest-free loan. :biggrin_2556:

Just for an update on Per Deim.

What is the best way to handle your per deim at the end of the year if your company is a NO PER DEIM company?
