That's great. It was cool to meet you out here in Arizona of all places. I should make it home Monday. A couple of days off and an out and back dedicated run and I will have 3 pretty good pay checks in a row.

After a boring 34 hours at Markham I got rolling again around midnight Saturday/Sunday. With a 3 hour delay loading the load was tighter time wise than I had anticipated. I didn't have to hurry but with a couple of stops for coffee, fuel and breakfast combined with losing an hour into the EST time zone I found myself pulling into the plant about 15 minutes before my appointment with about 1.25 hours left on my 14. Fortunately they took me right in, unloaded me quickly and I had about 15 minutes left on my 14 as i pulled out of the gate.

I asked at the guard house if they had any parking at the plant. They directed me to a gravel lot with plenty of room about 300 yards away on the way out. I did my break there then headed home for a few days off.

Make a note Colgate Palmolive in Cambridge Oh has truck parking on site. There is no bathroom there but there is a bowling alley about 1/2 mile away.

I hate Markham and I hate the turd loads they give us system drivers. They give the system all the 275-mile runs that load at 0200 - in short the trash THEIR drivers won't run.

I hear you. At least we don't have to sit for 48 hours waiting for them like a couple of years ago.

Got jerked around a little this week. I got home Mon and told dispatch that I wanted to go back out Thursday and would love something dedicated out and back. Got a call Tuesday AM saying they needed me to run a paint load leaving Wednesday. I rearranged my plans only to get a call back Tuesday evening saying they didn't need me on that load after all. That was cool I had some stuff to do.

I still asked to go out the end of the week to get some more money on next weeks check. All they had for me was a 525 mile snot load to Yonkers NY delivering Monday morning at 7AM. Its also "real tight" according to dispatch and you have to unload in 2 different places. Guess you have to take the bad with the good sometimes. 5 days at home during the week doesn't make for a very good paycheck though.

Ya we never load at 0200 and never run short loads. Now that is funny:biggrin_25523:Every time I run a system load I sit at a terminal waiting for that 0100 pickup and run your ars off to get to your delivery on time. It seems that is what happens at all terminals. Its called the terminal drivers get the good loads and system gets whats left. Just this week ran into a driver I know from greer he was running a dedicated load with better miles than what I was doing. I was glad they gave him something good, I was at the end of two weeks out coming back from cali. As Rob said you have to take the good with the bad.

Home terminal guys should get the choice loads going out. They are the ones bailing out the contracts that terminal has on a regular basis. Last week I had been out 2+ weeks when dispatch asked me to go back out one day after I got home. I agreed and my wife wasn't too happy about it. Wound up not having to go but the point is I was willing to.

The only time it got bad was when freight got real slow a couple of years ago. Then they will dispatch the system guys rather than pay them layover and let the home guys sit making no money.

All in all they do a fairly good job spreading the money around. Company drivers all make about the same here.
