Well, it seems the cries of my wait were answered.. I think the very next day from my last post (on this thread actually). I'm with a trainer now - OTR guy. I ran 2K+ miles on my log alone in the first week; almost put him in the hole on week two so we sat in Muscle Shoals, AL for about three days on a restart and then about a day and a half more waiting for a load to take us back to GA for requested home time. My trainer's well pump shorted out and he needed to get back to bury the new cable for his roommate. As for now, we're gonna get back at it on Monday, most likely for another two weeks, then home again.
Is it likely that I'll not be paid for a week like the last one I had almost no runs? It's not like I wasn't out of hours - they did try to load us with a run to north of Albany, NY but my trainer doesn't feel (and the policy dictates) that I'm not ready for city traffic *NYC* and he was out and would have been in the hole for the next four days if I had cont. to drive.
Otherwise it's been great OTR and I'm expecting to be solo by about week eight since we're taking home time every other weekend (and almost a week of sitting) - I'm sure there will be a few more delays...

How do you become a follower of the blog? Do you have to work for Millis to sign up? Sorry. Not very computer savy.
-
It seems employees would benefit most but I think anyone can sign up. It'll prompt you for google account or some other sign on but will walk you through it as it did me.
-
Haha, much better. Looks good man.

Dark-Knights, YOU should get paid regardless of your hrs or not...Waiting is part of the job. You were out and ready to go. Don't understand why it took 4.5 days to get Hrs back and get a load though!!!
Who is your trainer?? Just curious....If he's new I'd like to meet him at some point. Might be one that I add to my "special" list. LOL
See Ya'

LOL at "special list". I'm almost afraid to ask what it's for. But yes Dark Knights, if you were in the truck and ready for dispatch you should get paid your weekly training pay as Greg said. Like him I can't help but ask why so long to get a reset and wait another 1.5 days? Something doesn't sound right.
I hope the rest of your training goes smoother for you. I think I will agree with your trainer though on driving through NYC, it can be trying and a few more weeks driving will get you better primed for it. -
I hope to be a Millis employee someday

i agree, something doesn't sound right. When I started my training my trainer needed to get a 34 hr reset in right as I started so that we could run more as I was on permit and every hour I drove he was on duty but he was concious that I needed 35 days minimum with a minimum 4 hrs driving to complete training, I drove about 9 hours when he picked me up late Friday and that was 5 hours on friday and at midnight to 4 am i got my 4. we did a reset and got my 4 hours on sunday night so I never missed a day of training while we got our 34 hr restart. Definately takes planning ahead which is a trait that serves well as a driver. If your trainer isn't planning well maybe you'll have to make some suggestions, just remember to be respectful with your suggestions as you are the student best of luck. -
Mr. G it's great to have you participating on here. We've haven't met yet but i've heard only great things about you. You're certainly a great asset to this site. welcome.
