I've taken 3 hair follicle test in my life. None of them were for trucking. They have the ability to choose how far back the test will check. All 3 i had to take only went back 2 years.
It just goes along with the laws of averages and percentages. Most people who have "offended" or "used" in the past will repeat in the future no matter how rehabilitated they become. It's just the way it is. You make poor decisions in life sometimes you pay for them for a long time.rambler Thanks this. -
The I quit today, I want to go truckin tomorrow question.
Companies might have their own standards, but DOT drug test guidelines are how to handle chain of command on urine samples.
Go shave your body and chop off your package. You''ll be safe.

Depends what they have used in the past. I still think alcoholics are the most dangerous abusers. Should a rehabilitated drunk be able to drive, or a current alcoholic?
Psych eval and blood test should be sufficient, usually the other tests wont show amphetamine/Coc use past a couple of weeks which has worse long term affects than pot. I cite pot as an example because that has the longest lingering metabolites in the hair and urine test.
If you want to judge and discriminate against people on their long ago past (5+ years) that is your right. But if you demanded to know my past beyond 5 or 10 years, you can check my stool sample.
Oh and by the way, I am a non user/abuser, always have been, dont even drink, ever.
I'm just not an advocate of infringing on peoples rights beyond what is reasonable. I do advocate knowing what a CMV operator has been using or doing for the past 5 years. I'm just not convinced a hair follicle test is an accurate test of ones current state (past 5 years). Lets not forget the psych eval, that could possibly be just as important.
I mean, would you limit your workforce to those that have lived their life like Christ? You would have maybe 1 or 2 workers, maybe. lol
Some of the best rehab specialists are former alcoholics and drug users. Stereotyping does not equal actual ability and qualification to operate a CMV.
Whats next, a Spinal tap?KeepOnTruckin1 and Jamming Gears Thank this. -
Then why are you still going on and on and on? Please show me any trucking company that is even doing hair testing or some other form of drug testing that goes past 5 years.
Or for that matter show me one that even uses hair testing period As far as I know there are none. -
if you would read the fmcra you would see that it said that a urine test will be done at the time of employment nothing about a hair so i think some of you need to read the book alittle more just saying have a good day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry guess I got off track. The OP asked about hair testing in Ohio. In another thread someone was saying they had to do a hair test for a trucking company. You seemed to imply the OP was dirty, I gave my opinion, thats all. Just stating why someone would possibly be worried about a hair test and not a urine test.

Don't want to fail a hair test? Go get a haircut.
Want to pass a wizz quiz? Stay clean for a month or so, go to the drug store....er.... pharmacy.... and get a home drug test. If you fail that, stay clean and keep trying. When you get two cleans in a row, a week apart, you may be ready for a DOT test.
I have seen way too many chronic users show up after being clean for 30 days and get sent home for a failed test. Depending on who did the test, it could show up on permanent records and mar your career for life. Better to be safe than sorry.
I'm not going to get into the "don't judge...." discussion. It's too aggravating for me and not worth the added blood pressure.Rollover the Original and lil may Thank this. -
Nobody was saying fmcsa required hair testing, the op posted a question about hair follicle testing and as usual the thread turned in another direction. Welcome to TTR.
