I don't disagree with the fact that someone who prolifically abuses drugs are more likely to commit crimes and be an overall burden to society.
Again, the original post I was referring too, was someone bashing someone else's "attitude" for feeling like hair folicle testing was excessive.

WELL unlike some people they have used drugs in the past but no longer do drugs. Hair test can go back farther depending on how long hair is. so if you quit drugs and a week later shaved your head any future hair will be clean. I have never heard of a trucking company do the hair test cause it cost 300-400. the pee test is the only one i know. so keep on trucking and watch out for the tweekers!
-
LMAO!!! not overreacting! I'm understand the standard test is accurate to about 90 days. Thanks Doc! LMAOOOO!!!

It would be nice if we could do the mouth swab. Less intrusive, impossible to "beat" and more accurate.
So, yes, there are options other than pee, hair and blood.
Hair test for me? Not on your life. Not because I have anything to hide or I think it's "intrusive." I haven't smoked pot since I was 15 years old...almost 20 years ago. I do not cut my hair, wth the exception of a bang trim, for any reason other than death or war. It's a religious thing most people don't understand and I wouldn't expect them to. Test me for drugs any other way you want to. Hair is out of the question.Cudascious Thanks this. -
Yeah I think its excessive thats all. What about the psych test? I see an awful lot of "clean" loonies. lol
The problem is, that many recreational pot smokers are lumped in with hardcore druggies. Pretty lame. Even our government is seeing the problem and working towards pot legalization. Seriously, Im more scared of a drunk.
Again, my main point is regarding THC, as its metabolites or whatever can stay in your hair long after last use, UNLIKE meth and coke.
I dont smoke, do any drugs, never did, not my thing, but I fully support the legalization of Pot. And I always will. Legalization would probably cut any pot related crimes to near 0% by legalizing and decriminalizing it. Revenue from such legislation would end up being enormous, our government could make a fortune and quit wasting time and money going after stupid potheads and spend that time and money getting rid of the real dangerous drugs.
I lost my first wife to meth, she started with alcohol and went with meth, not pot. Alcohol was the gateway drug.
Again, since some people dont read well, I do not use pot, and havent since I was a teen, so dont be lumping me in with users of pot or tweekers. Attack my my statements if you will, but dont make an argument using your assumptions on me personally. Thanks.
U4EA Thanks this. -
Total BS Here are the real numbers; http://www.whitehousedrugpolicy.gov/publications/factsht/crime/index.html
And let us not fail to consider the logic that if drugs were legally available people would be less likely to commit crimes in order to obtain them.
It's the flip side of gun laws; If you made guns illegal tomorrow all you would do is criminalize a whole bunch of people who just want to own a gun. Real criminals would have as much access to guns as they do now.Cudascious and U4EA Thank this. -
I've taken many test and the only thing I worry about is if the test is done right. You'd be surprised on how many collections places I've seen that skip or do the collecting wrong. I had one test where the guy says lets go upstairs and come back and the bottle wasn't even sealed yet.
It's best to read the rules and know them inside out because after all it is your life on the line here. All the rules and regs are listed on the FMCSA site or the little green pocketbook.Cudascious Thanks this. -
EXACTLY! Good post!
I don't recreationally use any drugs; neither illict nor prescription. I'm also one of those "conspiracy theorists" who believe a high percentage of the synthetic drugs, developed by the pharmaceutical companies, are often worse than the ailment it's treating...
That being said, I also believe many marijuana smokers are lumped into the "junkie" category. People seem to assume pot smokers are out stealing purses and robbing liquor stores.
I think accurate DOT drug testing SHOULD DEFINITELY be protocol; that was never my argument. I just don't like when people start throwing out useless statistics (irrelevant to topic), and claim "I would never give anyone a chance who...."
Ronin, I wasn't "overreacting"...funny how several posts later you start quoting the technicalities of follicle testing...
Did you google it? Just admit it LMAOOOO!!!!!
Who need medical school when you have the internet. HAhahCudascious Thanks this. -
Most carriers still use urine for drug and alcohol testing. However, there are a few who do use hair to check for substance use. It is more accurate for a longer period of time, from what I have been told. If you object to hair testing then you should check with any carrier with whom you plan on working prior to getting to orientation. Most carriers wait until orientation to test for substance use.

Cocaine is one hell of a drug! Hahah
