I hope I'm not the only one who caught this....
Or I'm gonna start wondering about y'all.
One doobie in how many years....you should be okay, but home test anyway just to be sure. Question I would have is would it be possible to have a similar lapse in judgment while you are a CDL holder?
I hang out with some pretty rough folks sometimes and they enjoy their ganja on occasion. They are aware that I hold a CDL and they respect that. I simply remove myself to a different area when they light up and they don't question why I do, nor do they give me any grief over it. When they put it away, I'm back in the group like nothing happened. They don't bother offering it to me and I don't make a big thing out of it. No problem with any lapse in judgment, even when I'm snockered...on rare occasions.

hahahahahahahahaha, this thread is more comedy than answering my question. ok so i got drunk on my birthday, only like the 3rd time I've drank all year. thats an average of once a month, and not all ending in intoxication, so i must be a worthless drunk. i smoked a little weed on my birthday do to a bad decision, so now I'm a worthless drunk and a stone cold pothead. but last time i checked my criminal history is nil NO crimes what so ever that includes the 80 percent of drug and alcohol related crimes committed by other people other than me even though according to a lot of you I'm a menace to society. the main reason i asked the question is someone hit it right on the head. i don't want one mistake in my life haunt me for the rest of it. hahahahahaha keep the comments flowing

Hahaha - Oops Injun caught the typo, although Injun is definitely one of the intellectuals here so I don't feel as embarrassed!
You mean once every four months if were talking averages! LMAO!
Admitting you have a problem is the first step on the road to recovery! -
Well. Not all of us are doing that. I'm simply giving you my opinion, an idea and asking a question. Not accusing you of being a gutter-humping junkie here.
Are you?

Has anyone ever watched "The Basketball Diaries"? It's a pretty crazy movie about junkies...

I'm really loving the 10 year talk! do you realize how long that head of hair would be?
do the math!
hair grows at an average length of 1/2 inch a month! so in a year it would be 6 " correct?
So 10 years would be 60" or 5 ' long. I pretty much figure any women with 5 ' long hair who smoked pot during that 10 year period won't be applying for driving jobs with out a serious hair cutting and most men very seldom have hair that long either.
The way Concerta explained the hair test was as the hair grows out from the pore and a heavy drug like pot is smoked it leaves a "tag" or "ring" around the hair shaft. As the hair grows it moves along with the shaft until that "day" is cut off at the hair dressers or barber shop. The THC of pot stays in the human system longer than any of the chemical drugs do and attaches to the fat cells in your blood.
But in the hair it's like if some one tries to poison you or you get chemo and what it will do to your finger and toe nails. It leaves a line across your nail where it kills the top layer of whatever the stuff is in your nails. (no the pot doesn't! This is an example)
So until the hair falls out or is cut it'll be there untill the test. As stated earlier they cut the hair close to the scalp or skin depending where it's taken from and then tested in a "reasonable" time length. I seriously doubt they will go to the end of a 5' length of hair as even a pee test can't got that far back.
But if you're so scared and even wonder which test they will do, well we all know what you've been doing! Go get your hair cut off and as I said in the other post a few days ago ALL OF IT, nose to toes and then waste a ton of money on that cleansing crapola to get clean! Just have a very good excuse why you're a body of nubs like your wife or GF at that time of the month! And enjoy sticking to the sheets as a wrestler friend of mine says when you don't keep it shaved close your sheets can scare you to death at night as the nubs make them bungle up around you and make you feel like they are strangling your body!
ME? I didn't like the shaved head as it made the pillow hard to slide on! -
What!!! My hair is around 6' long! I wanted to drive for the "cream of the crop" CR England, now I'm not sure ! canInjun and Rollover the Original Thank this.

Do you know how much cocaine Charlie Sheen has done in the past 8 years?
Enough to kill Two and A Half Men!!!
U4EA Thanks this. -
Personally, before I respond to this, I feel that pot should be legal. I don't smoke it, but I have in the past. I think it should have the same repercussions as alcohol use, ie: not operating "under the influence"
I think the system is skewed. There's plenty of ways to test people to see if they are under the influence of anything, and this multi-billion dollar machine that we affectionately call the drug testing industry is intrusive on privacy. Personally, what I did last weekend shouldn't be none of your #### business, lest the last 1 - 2 years.
What I ... or you... do when I get behind the wheel is another story. That's where it's a responsibility to be sober, alert and have nothing in your bloodstream that would cite you at fault in the event of an accident. I'm sure there's some poor sap out there that puffed on a doobie a couple of weeks prior and some drunk driver T-bones him and he's sitting in prison because of someone elses blatant transgression of the law.
But, alcohol is legal, right? I've seen more lives destroyed over that funny legal stuff that no one seems to have an issue with.
And fudging those lines on that log book is okay too, now isn't it? How many of you have done that and gone down the road drooling on the steering wheel? I'd rather have Tommy Chong next to me in a CR England truck than some half-asleep dimwit who got his license three weeks ago and 2 gold stars on his [insert bottom feeder driver mill school here] road test.
Y'all tend to lump druggies in the same basket, now don't ya? I've been on this planet almost a half century, and have seen many lives wrecked over drug use. Ex-family members strung on crack or coke - I even worked for a guy who owned 6 trucks and would do heroin on an occasional Friday night when he was drunk. No, he didn't drive, but he held a Class 1 (remember those?)
As for the drugs and crime statement from the LEO, well, that corrects itself, now doesn't it? We can rehab a prison inmate, give him a commercial drivers license and cut him loose to rip up the highways with zero experience, but God forbid, if that hair shaft shows any THC from the last 2 years, that's the kiss of death.
How about this? If you have a criminal past involving drug use, you cant get a CDL. Ever. That's what background checks are for. Ditto for DWI's, DUI's or whatever. Lose the CDL for 10 years, and you can drive your four wheeler until it clears. I used to do management in trucking, and some guy would come in and apply, hand me his CDL and paint this rosy picture, and lo and behold, there's the conviction on his MVR.
Yeap.
Judge not, lest ye be judged. Personally, I'm not a Bible thump-er, but I would have to call that a pretty narrow-minded statement. Life is about choices and learning.
I guess Michael Vick will go back to gambling on fighting dogs eventually. I bet Mr. Obama will be embarrassed when that happens.
A background check and a credit report is a pretty stout indicator of a persons stability. Your hard core druggie/criminals usually have a pretty good rap sheet, zero credit, etc.
A psychological evaluation isn't a bad idea, either. Road rage and 80,000 lbs. isn't a good combination.
Which is the way it should be. No one should be operating any vehicle under the influence of anything.
Saliva swabs and blood sticks to detect current use is the way to go. The pending move to get marijuana legalized for the general public will bring that front and center. Transportation will remain unchanged, but piss tests will eventually become obsolete. People do skirt them constantly, right down to synthetic urine and a hand warmer. And for those of you who applaud them, be prepared to pee supervised with your pants around your ankles.
I wouldn't drive for him either, and regardless of whether or not he has a 10, 13, 15 or 18 speed, he would be hard pressed to say I couldn't shift his ride. Didn't choose my name here for no reason.
Used to tug 148,000 lbs worth of flour on twin 48's. Never had a u-joint go bad or any drive-line problems at all.
I'm clean as well. No criminal history either.
But I certainly didn't grow up in the "Just Say No" years.Boardhauler, Jamming Gears and U4EA Thank this. -
I take all kinds of drugs....aspirin, tylenol, plavix, zocor, beer, wine.....but they are legal.
I judge anyone that does breaks the law, whether it be traffic laws, trespass laws, or any sort of criminal acitvity.
If they are going to drive my truck, I want the driver to be on the job 100% of the time, and not a career drug user that is going to #### up my truck. If that means someone should not get a job, so be it. He is the one that used illegal drugs, not me.
In general, a drug user would be a bad employee....and I think we all pretty much agree on that. It is generally agreed that brain surgeons, nurses, teachers, police, and truck drivers should not be on drugs while doing their jobs....again, I think we all are in agreement.
The problem is sorting out which former drug user would be a good employee and which would be a bad employee.....so tell me...how do you do that???
How many former drug users end up going back to their drugs? How many times do they go through rehab???
If you are a special case, and have your CDL, then I think you should be able to get a job driving. If you have decided not to use illegal recreational drugs, then I think you should be able to get a job driving a CMV.
The past is the past, and you have to live with it, and I wish you the best in getting a driving job.U4EA Thanks this.
