With proposed mandatory EOBR rules coming down the turnpike I was curious as to the cost(hardware/monthly cost), different brands and which ones, if any, were O/O currently using? Do you view having to use an EOBR a plus or minus?

You can avoid all the costs if you run out of Mexico. Obama is proposing that the EBOR for these trucks be paid for by the US.

But I am sure if they do this here it will not be covered. Costs are all over the place. Getting to a real cost for an O/O will be hard until it gets down to go time. At present we do not have an infastructure designed to install these units for large quanities of single to small fleets.

I hear Teamsters and the rest of the Unions are against this. I am not sure that it is going to see the light of day but still making my voice heard.

I saw an article in the latest Trucker News about an i-phone that had a D.O.T. approved app where you could go paperless logs on the phone and eliminate paper logs. You do your logbook on the phone and when asked by an officer show it to them. It was also capable of being e.o.b.r. and was possible to take quality pictures of b.o.l.s and other documents to be emailed to anyone. Looked like a really cost effective solution to mandatory e.o.b.r.'s for single o/o's.

That's a different press release but generally has the same features only I was thinking it was just a run of the mill i-phone from the story?.?. The article I read said it was a $25 monthly fee for the services.

I have a friend at CayCan that sells the downloaded app for $9.95 and it works in conjunction with the GPS app on your phone.
