volvos have that problem big time.i drove for swift for 6 months and while i sat at the terminal in dallas for a few days waiting for my place in line to get my columbia fixed i heard all sorts of volvo complaints.Well on my 3rd day there me and another driver went to get some food to eat..well when we came back after 1 hour the lot was full of police cars and fire trucks. It turns out that the volvo parked in front of me 2 spaces down that was idling was surrounded and taped off.The driver had died inside and was a little ripe. From what i understand(not 100%)he died from carbon dioxide poisoning due to the exhaust leak in his truck.i was there when they pulled the poor mans body out.He had been in there a couple of days at least because his truck was there and idling when i pulled up and parked and was still going on day 3 when this went down.I had a friend almost die in his volvo from it.he tried many times to get them to fix and they wouldn't.he parked it at a scale and them look at it.they praised him for stopping and reporting it to them.swift gave him grief and ended up giving him a columbia.

    sorry that was so long

I am an owner of a 670 double sleeper with D13 Volvo engine I bought New and as 270000 miles
I had and still have problems with Exhaust system And a colling leak.
First Colling leak on the D 13 was at driver side front engine there is a blue water pipe the leak very tine was from there.

2 fumes on the cab I replace 3 times the flex pipe because they are very easy to break and they leak 3 times already

3 I had a fume leak also on the manifold behind of the turbo. To check it behind turb you will see black from the smoke right on the face of the engine

4 this one I am trying to fix is a terrible odour it comes in short whiff to underside of the cab and fill like acid on my nose, makes sleep and puts my eyes read, short of bread and noose, I am trying to find were it comes from,on this I have the Volvo manager and the chef of the mechanic's were I bought the truck looking in to it?
But bought are saying they do not fill nothing but it keeps happen.know were this odour comes I do not know yet?

Hubby worked for Knight in the summer of 10. I went on one 75 mile run with him and when we got back home I was sick as a dog. While we were driving I kept asking him what that putred smell was that it smells like exhaust. He said this is the smell i've been telling you about the last 3 months, when I take it into the shop theres nothing wrong. I even had to grab the good ole Pilot cup to throw up in it was so thick and bad in there. Needless to say two weeks later he was done with Knight for this run. When he was rehired in November he got a new (less than 50,000) truck. Not a problem with exhaust at all. Only deal there was he came home 3 times...thats not 3 two days off thats 3 days only in 57 days. He came in on Christmas eve and had to go back out Christmas evening. Lord willing we will be able to find a company that actually gives you home time and good equiptment.

I have experienced "bad exhaust" problems ever since I started trucking over 20 years ago, didn't matter the company or the brand of truck.

I think it has to do with the generally (compared to an auto) rough ride of a tractor-trailer.

"I can't believe THAT smell came out of MY butthole!" :)
