I just searched that and found some info, not to sound conceded but have more miles backing up than a newbie has going forward, another issue is that the Studios dont report to DAC so there is no employment history and last time I drove for a carrier was before all this reporting started.

You wouldn't happen to have some proof that you drove for a carrier and drove trucks for the studios, would you? You might be able to find a smaller carrier who would be willing to take you on.

I have records going back to 1982 and numerous personal references so going to give it a try this week and see what happen, sure miss the good ole days when they took you out for a road test and fileed out one or two pages of basic info.

I really do not think you will have a problem at all--besides almost everyone knows that most of what you did may not necessarily transfer as an OTR driver--it is still considered Hi-value etc. Also in terms of references--if you worked in the film industry in LA--I'm sure you were/are a teamster--and should still have a withdrawal card--unless you are still paying dues and keeping up membership--and your work history and time paid into pension fund will all be on file....
As for work--I know union work is tight if not non-existant--but I would still check in at the hall--you might still be able to grab something here or there as you look--besides there are a TON of smaller companies in So. Cal--that I am sure with your experience would talk to you--I know of lots of guys who got out over hte years for a time--for whatever reason and could find a job--IMHO--it is only the very large carriers--and probably for the most part due to their particular insurance situation that require this refresher nonsence--besides coming out of what you did--I sincerely doubt you would be able to put up with the kind of nonsence that goes on at the mega fleets like USA

I did take a withdrawl card and have no intention of going back, problem wasnt lack of work but the opposite, worked 29,000hrs in 12 years and not physically able to continue, alot of time is spent standing around on set, havnt had any problems getting a new driving job since havnt REALLY started looking seriously, want to wade through all the b.s to decide on a company that I like and can stay with long term, not one to jump from job to job so advice from those in the real trucking industry is appreciated.

I completely understand your reluctance to get back into what you were doing--I only mentioned the renewal card--to be used as additional documentations of previous experince as you apply--and the possiblity of a little work(to tide you over)so you don't have to rush and can really look around for a good job!
