Should I even bother trying again?

Sorry, been there. I LOVE tech, but tech doesn't like me. That's the job I want, but there are none to be found.

There are ALWAYS jobs to be found. However, if you believe that you won't find one, then you're probably right.

It's a very old saying, and I have no clue where it came from, but it goes a little like this.

Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're right.

Sorry. Positivity died after the 1 year mark of unemployment. I no longer believe any of these 'positive' thinking phrases because they are NOT true. Life is life. Believing the 'sun will come out tomorrow' changes nothing.

To answer your question, your DAC will take about 15 days from the time you order it...

I don't consider that a "positive thinking phrase", myself.

If you haven't done this already, research 40 different companies that you would like to work at. Once you've done that, send them all a letter of introduction. Follow that up about 3 days letter with a cover letter and resume, and inform them within it that you'll be calling to speak to them about setting up an interview. Maybe 4 days after you've sent the resume, make the call and talk to some one about an interview.

Trying to get a job is no different than working in sales. Repetition breeds familiarity. If they've seen your name 3 or 4 times, it brings it to the front of their minds if they start thinking about a tech job they need to fill. The resume will be used to get in the door for the interview. It's in the interview where you'll need to see if you like them, and they like you.

Of course, I have no idea how you did your job search, so, if you did all of these tactics and never got interviews, then there's an issue with your resume that needs to be addressed. If you got interviews, but not hired, then it's the interview process that is killing it on you.

If you haven't done these things to try and land a position where you want to be, give it a try.

Why so long in the unemployment line? Times are hard and you need to consider lower paying jobs along with "creative" ways to make income on the side. Do you have any hobbies that could turn into a side business with a little effort?

Don't be ashamed to take a lower paying job. When the economy finally turns around... you find something better.

Back several years ago I left a $16 an hour job and took one with much better working conditions for $10 an hour. I "stepped up" my Ebay sales and never even noticed the "hit". In fact, it seemed like I had more money than I ever had before.

If you're good enough at fishing professionally, then do it, and find 2 or 3 ways to monetize it. Even if you're not a pro, you can probably still find 2 or 3 or 4 ways to monetize fishing, if it's a real passion for you. As for firewood, see if you can find a niche market to fill dealing with firewood, and be the best at filling it. Then, at the end of the day, work on the log cabin. Once it's built, then you can enjoy it every #### night. :biggrin_25525:
