He may have years of experience, but in many parts of the northeast driving jobs are few and far between. The economy has really hit driving jobs here too, maybe it's the expensive rent of office space and drops yards, etc. You'd call a small company or owner/op and he'd have 50 apllicants who want the job.

That's how it's been for the past few years in the northeast; maybe he had no choice.

That because all of the companies out there have been sending southerners to the north east and paying South East wages to do it. It sucks but there it is.

:whdat:I see mega fleets using the 80/20 rule. 80% are seat meat, warm bodies to fill seats and haul late loads for 30 cpm.

That is called Bait! Unsuspecting drivers falls for for the lure of easy money! Companies paying 50 cents a mile are basing that on short runs and usually a sliding scale. Heartland does that and like swiss cheese is full of holes. After you get there they start knocking you down to 30 something. That Fifty Cents requires Hazmat, Twic, 5 plus yrs verifiable and includes safety, idle time and fuel bonuses lets not mention the 3 cents they can scoop off the top for Per Diem. When you get your settlements your lucky to be averaging 2200 miles a week at 33 cents.

I am an average 5 year OTR driver and Paid by the Mile. I need 36 cent a mile and 3600 miles a week! ($ 1296.00 Gross per week!) What are you offering...? 600 bucks, WOW, you gotta be kidding me.......Click! LOL

There is a ton of info on this board warning about USA for the very reasons you gave. Why did you go with them? As another poster said you have been around the block a time or two in your 18 years, why USA?
