Fedex has already been running freight on the rail, nothing new doesn't affect us at all and u should know every terminal is different.

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

No, they're gonna amp the rail up more.
They eventually want about 25-35% of the total Economy freight on the rails.
I wouldn't hire-on there now, too much uncertainty after the merger + possible changes in HOS.
Plus they might one day tell you to buy a truck if you want to keep your job. -
Sadly, I have to agree 100%. After the merge, before they got the rail thing going and hired every Tom Dick and Harry truck load company they could find to haul our freight, I actually worked. Albeit, layovers at economy hubs. Now, I just went through a 3 week stint without work, burned all my vac, personal days, had to call corporate to get unemployment cause managers act like Sgt Shultz when it comes to that stuff "I KNOW NOTHING" It's a joke!! Almost every other LTL is hiring, while fedex is letting people starve that passed on the severance to stick it out. It's a #### shame

I agree with the merger its like no one really knows what happening now! ! Even so the company has kept me working every day. It's been crazy since the merger but hopefully everything gets Better without me having to be a o/o.
-
Anytime there is a merger, sale or just plain change in top brass, there is never any information that filters down to the troops. About all you can do is hang tough and see what happens.
Both my wife and I have gone through this more than once. Each time, it has actually worked out OK, so don't panic and jump ship because of stupid rumors. The rumor mill flourishes on stuff like this, so just try to ignore it. (Of course if you DO get that pink slip in your pay envelop, then I guess it isn't a rumor anymore, but hopefully that won't happen to you guys.)RJ33RD Thanks this. -
I was driving line haul for central transport, but they kept wanting me to run illegally and I decided to find a different job that was much closer to home. Now I have found Vitran and they are right down the road from me so I was wondering if anyone has any information on them. I would eventually like to drive for UPS, FedEx, Conway etc.
-
Vitran keeps buying out companies such as pjax, milan and maybe a few others. Not a great reputation but still better then nearly any OTR gig. Is UPS Freight or Conway hiring in your area ?
-
anyone do saia? they always seem to be hiring in my area. from their website i have seen they require a year and hazmat thats about all i know. conway never seems to have openings and i def dont think i have a shot at ups or fedex with my current experience.

Honestly, it all has to do with who's looking at the apps. There has been 3 different managers in charge of hiring drivers at my barn, and all 3 have hired very different groups of people. One of them would call a number on an app, and hang up on the second ring if nobody answered, then move to the next app. No joke, I watched him do it

And these are the "intelligent people" who "manage" things. . .
