I have to buy extended warranty for a C-15 acert.I guess I dont have to but with all the wiring, sensors, and other stuff on it I could be looking for trouble if I dont. Its not cheap around 8K US for 5yr 300K miles, so any advice, good- bad experiences would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any replies

who is the warranty company? what all does the warranty cover?

Buy the genuine Caterpillar warranty. Don't waste your money on the National Truck Protection warranty. Their warranty isn't worth the paper it is written on in my opinion. You might as well throw the money out the window, it would do you as much good!

Its the Cat warranty and you could buy as little or as much as you want.Injectors, turbos, dpf, h20 pump etc.You can buy low miles with longer time limit in years or whatever.Either way its alot of $$$ to spend and im sure Cat has the whole thing figured to a tee so that they dont lose $$$.Good engine so far

I bought the Caterpillar extended warranty on my used C15 when I bought my present truck. Had a problem about 2.75 years into the 3 year warranty. To say they stepped up and covered the problem would be an understatement. Best money i could have ever spent in my opinion. Was it cheap?, no, but it certainly was worth it. All depends upon what your threshold for pain is in case of a failure. In my case it paid off, could have easily went the other way I'm sure...

I got the National Truck Protection with the used truck I bought and I have tryed to use it 2 Times now and he is RIGHT, It isn't worth the paper it's written on. They cover everything except parts, Labor, Fluid, Gaskets, Oil,.......You get the pitcher !!!!!!!

When we bought our Freightliner we decided not to get the warranty. Another guy bought a twin to our truck and he bought the warranty.
We got lucky and drove it for five years without many problems at all but he blew his engine in a big way, they replaced everything but the valve covers and oil pan pretty well!! It paid off for him for sure.
Billkklogger Thanks this.
