Glad to hear everything is going well so far. I don't think you'll have a big problem with the standard 10. The last couple days of class we switched over to it from the super 10 and it took literally 2 minutes to get used to it for me. I drove my friend's truck for a bit and found it real nice to float with the standard.

I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to start off from a dead stop (like at a stoplight or a stop sign) in 4th gear. I always seem to choke out and stall. 3rd gear is fine but I'd like to be on the same page as everyone else. Ugh. Ever have that happen?

nope....Just try letting out the clutch a little slower, if that doesnt work your in the wrong gear. The proper starting gear should pull you without any throttle.

I only ever used 4th as a start in my daycab with no trailer, otherwise its 3rd from a stop and I just jumped gears, 3,5,7 when not under weight.

if your MT and starting on flat ground or downhill 4th gear will work, I only do that If I need to get going faster like when you pull out across a 4 lane road.....you dont want to have to hit all 10 gears if you dont have to. Otherwise I'm with D1 3rd is as high as I go unless bobtail or MT.

Sorry... they moved me over to the terminal, which no longer has internet, Joe came thru, hours are long, and a cold is decimating our ranks.

The class before us graduated out. I'm glad that I'm in this class... better personality matches overall. We've done street driving and turns, Qualcomm, trip envelopes, and logs. I did well on my review except for being too nervous. Two others didn't do so well; they were unable to keep a truck in their own lane and were sent home on Friday. I drove with both and would not want them on the road without a trainer.

I missed doing hill driving (true hill driving) due to being sick on Friday and now have to do it today. Yep... been stressing for days. :p

We had a mere two new students come in last night; guess things really are slowing down. Now I have to get thru today. Will try to update tonight.

P.S. Flatbed class is separate... no tarping or strapping yet. :p
