Just specced a new T660 with Bendix discs on the Steer and Drive axles. Performance increase is demanded by NHTSA and will be mandatory equipment, shortly on all new trucks. Disc tests with GVW 56,470 from 60mph show 355' stopping distance, NHTSA current proposal 20-30% shorter, Bendix tests over 40% shorter and it is assumed that the trailer is also equipped. I own a trailer with drums and have heard the conversion is mucho $$$. Will wait and see how they perform, but I am expecting to be impressed.

You wouldn't happen to know how much the price difference was would you on the 660 with disks vs drums?

Did you ever install these parts on a trailer? How did they work?

I maintane trailers with EBS, RSS and disk brakes. Much safer

but never use old trailer with truck with EBS and disk brakes, it will push trucktor every time you slow down, EBS is more then twice faster conventional air system and drum brakes - is about 0.3 sec delay comparing with disk brakes.

No, never messed with it, I'm lacking the rotors and 2 backing plates. Got a pile of pads though. I just priced a new trailer but forgot to see about disk brakes, doubt I would do it though the price is already high enough.

I don't doubt they're probably better/safer but there has been about 5 truck crashes here locally in the past month and none of them were brake related. So unless they come out with some new brake system to stop stupidity........:biggrin_2559:
