Wow--guess things have changed--although at quick glance all the courses being offered today B4 applying to SF school seem to cover most of it--and although I didn't look that close--I guess since they are at bragg--you are expected to already be jump qualified--kinda looks like in addition to additional training--it also starts weed out early(kinda like when you needed to be Ranger qualified just to apply)
Was just wondering really--I know alot of things have changed--and I honor and respect all those who came before and after me--although I have never really gotten used to all those BLACK beenies nowadays--but that's Washington for you! -
Black beanies in my day=Ranger Green= Special Forces (Duh) Marron= 82nd Airborne Division...Everyone else=Baseball caps..
-
Duh Yup! LOL
Now the whole army is wearing BLACK with a few special exceptions--I've learned not to comment usually--especially since most of the exceptional individuals wearing the uniform today--have no idea what we are talking about--it's their cover--it was issued--they wear it!
Although I do have a couple of very good old friends who still get real pissed about it--course one of them recently put a round through a brand new 60" plasma because hanoi jane had the cajones to show up on HIS NEW TV!!!!
Big Duker Thanks this. -
I think the main reason is that it is hard as Hell to find people who speak Pashtun/Farcie {spelling}. Arabic is not that hard. I wish I did. These terps make a killing. We have one lady. Mid 50s. Her team loves her. Very kind and sweet Pakistani lady. They say she is tough as boot leather when they go in some where. Gets in bad guys face and gets the info. Asked to carry gun because everyone else had one. They got her a M-4. Wanted a SCAR but was too heavy. lol! Makes 200k plus a yr. She is not military at all, but they need her so they make it work.

WHATEVER WORKS--Works for me!

The one thing I know that seperates SEALS from other SF units is there ability in water.
-
Never call a SEAL a Special Force.
I learned that real quick. Army is Special Forces. Others are special operators or what ever. The Army has units trained in water operations as well, but they will admit privately that the SEALS are the men , especially in the ocean or large bodies of water. The Navy has/is training SEALS in land operations on a much larger scale to help in the conflicts we find ourselves in now. I like to give them Hell. We have about a 2 acre cess pool outside our base. Ask them if they want to go swim a few laps to keep in shape. No takers yet. But a lot of laughs and F U 's.
U4EA Thanks this. -
Well I'll have to take a split decision here. I am ex Navy and as I was never big enough or bad enough to be a Seal I always wanted to grow up to be one! and Now My son is a Staff sergeant in the Army and leaving for Afghanistan TODAY! I'll vote for Green berets also. So its a TIE they are all Big and Bad
CondoCruiser and U4EA Thank this.
