I seen a truck and trailer at the truck show in Louisville that had disc brakes and the driver loved them over drum brakes. The only thing is was worried as the discs wore down if they got hot going down a mountain if they would warp if they cooled down to fast. Other than that he liked his.
-
that's why trucks with retarders are popular here.
-
On the build sheet the front axle was, I think, $1300 and the drive axles an additional $2700 +/-. I would assume drums are specced in the base price.
FYI: I'm in CanadaJfaulk99 Thanks this. -

Peterbilt makes Air Disc Brakes Standard on all class 8 models... -
That's a good one!
What was the price tag on that new trailer??????
Did you go 96 or 102? I was gonna ask you last time you held me up but forgot. With what we do a 96 with a curtain on it would be enough room. -
50'x102". I would never put a conestoga on a 96" trailer because it kills the value when you sell it since you are limited to what it can haul.
Trailer was $61,555 FET included + about $10-13k more for the kit. Haven't ordered anything yet. Better than the last two quotes we've got for a new coil trailer. $68,249 + 10k for tarp. And I think the first one was like $82,000 with tarp. Nelson trailer is dreaming.
-
Actually if you put the conestoga on the outside of the rail you will give a 96" more room. Besides its gonna be a 4 axle, you're limited to what your gonna haul anyway.
-
Well they're always mounted on the outside of the rail which only gives you 96" inside width on a 96" trailer, which is fine for steel but kills you on lumber or other normal flat bed freight. I know a few dealers that have had 96" wide conestogas on their lot and they had to look at them for a while. They were very hard to sell.
Here is lumber on a 102", I had to use the "J" hooks on the conestoga track because the lumber goes right to the edge.
Who say's you can't haul whatever you want? The guy at the nursery didn't believe me when I said I could take all my trees at one time.
