... so why not join? Not really sure how to introduce myself on these things. Let's see... After I got out of the Army, I got my CDL, and started driving for Swift's flatbed division in 2002, out of the Eden, North Carolina terminal. That lasted until 2003, when I got called up from the National Guard and deployed to Iraq. It was almost 2005 when I came back, and I started driving for a guy out of Virginia who had his own authority, and pulled containers. It was nice.. I was in a flat floor International 9800 cabover, pulling 40 or 45 ft. containers, so I could go on a lot of roads you wouldn't want to be caught on with a conventional and 48 or 53' trailer. That lasted a whole six months.. it came to an end when the owner got busted for cooking meth. Yeah, seriously. So I started driving equipment for a road construction company called Lane (and would often be tasked to their subsidiary company, Rea Contracting). I started with the Landoll sliders, then moved to the lowboys. Some days, if they had nothing better for me to do, I'd get put on an end dump, water truck, dump truck, whatever.. didn't really matter, since my pay was always the same. Some stuff happened in 07, and I ended up going to South Africa, where I got my EC license, and I drove trucks there (and throughout southern Africa) from the end of 07 until the middle of 09. I came back, and drove transfer trucks for a debris hauling company, from the transfer stations to the landfill. Moved to Colorado in November of 2010, and there weren't local jobs for crap. I could've run a reefer from Colorado Springs to Denver and back for $12/hr... to hell with that. I got a job with a curb and gutter company driving a dump truck and doing general sitework. That was short lived, as they halved their crew.. their other CDL driver worked for them for seven years, whereas I'd been there a month.. you can figure out who got the axe. So I worked on a temporary basis for a small company out of Colorado Springs, pulling flatbeds, while one of their drivers was out injured. I was hoping it would become a permanent thing, but he came back, and he'd been with them for four years. They said they'd love to have me, and will call me as soon as a truck opens up (they only had six or seven trucks). Really wish that had become more permanent, though, seeing as I cleared $2400 in 16 days of working for them. Now I drive for a small fleet owner, who leases his two trucks on with CRST Malone. Again, doing flatbeds and stepdecks, and missing the good old daycab days. But he's a good person to work for, and doesn't screw around, so I can't complain too much.
    Anything else?

Welcome to the site and glad you joined. I was just in Colorado Springs and visited some friends for a few hours last Monday. The weather seemed confused there, it didn't know if it wanted to snow, rain or let the sun out. :biggrin_2559:

We have something in common. I worked for a company that was a cover for their coke import business in FL. It's fun to come to work and your boss is in handcuffs.

Thanks for the welcome. Cookies aren't an issue, actually - I have a Netbook, and it doesn't store them. Anyhow, took on fuel, took a little break, now it's time for me to get back down the road.
