I don't know why but Sparkys said you can not put an echo board or variable power switch in a cobra 29 bluetooth radio. It crushed my plans and is making me wonder why. Back to the drawing board.
no echo for bluetooth radios or variable power switch

That's too bad. I got an echo board on my 29wxnwbt. But then I didn't buy mine from sparkys either. Never would for that matter.

Who built yours?

Maybe Sparky's won't put the echo or variable power knob on...I don't see why being a Bluetooth that should have any difference...The Bluetooth feature is a separate board inside the radio, and should not have anything to do with "echo or variable" controls...
Only reason I can see that their maybe a problem, would be if the Bluetooth board is in the way of doing the variable without first removing the board, and possibly the Bluetooth board may take up so much space there's no room for a echo board...
I would check with another shop...Just doesn't sound right...All the Cobra 29's use the same boards...Only difference's are some 29's will have weather boards, or Bluetooth boards added also...
You can even have echo and variables added to the New 29 LX LCD radio...I had the Variable added to my LX LE 29. It replaced the Delta Tone. (didn't do the echo tho...My Mic has that) -

Mine has weather too so no delta tune knob. The weather goes there. My echo knob is is the back of the cb. This works fine for me as I intend to find that one sweet spot for it , not too high but just enough to enhance audio, and leave it there. Also got the rfx75 and the rk56 mic for bt. Ordered a new meter too and got a mic gear thrown in as well.
Got a nice discount on my radio for ordering 2 plain 29BTs for 2 of our other trucks. My current one is going in the 4th truck.Last edited: Apr 1, 2011

I don't know what his reason was for that, but most likely because it will not work well. I wanted Sparky to build me a Cobra 25 WX with the RFX mod and he wouldn't do it. It had to do with him doing a bunch of tests and finding out it wasn't the best on the WX radios. At the time Sparky was building Cobra 25 "stealths" which were a basic Cobra 25 with the RFX mod, which were doing 95-110 watts swing and pissing off some of the bigger higher priced export radios.
Now most any CB shop WOULD have done this mod. But it's almost proof to me that Sparky isn't the guy that will candy coat something to make a sale. So deerslayer, that's something to consider if you care about getting an honest deal. And no i don't work for Sparky, just calling it as it is. -
Or maybe sparky has someone else's interest in mind?
Sorry I'm not a sparky groupie and when my radio arrives tomorrow and kicks ### I wonder what your excuse for him will be then.
Mine was tested before it shipped and was swinging over 130 watts. Of course I'll test it myself when it arrives. I don't take anyone's word for anything. One thing I've learned.
I have my reasons for not taking my business to sparky and no one here will change that.
Wish you the best with him tho. Glad he's done ya right to be so loyal. -
Right now I am a no CB shop groupie. I was let down by mine and Sarkys said it can't be done, GI JOES said they just don't do it. Deereslayer how long have you had this radio?
-
Just got it today. I'll be installing it later and running my tests when my new meter come tuesday but when paul ran the tests before it shipped it was DKing at 15 and swinging over 130.

That will fry in no time. The dead key is way to high and will get hot.
