    Say you park in a truck stop or rest area to sleep and some crazy guy comes and get a gun and shoot the gas tank under the door of your truck, will it explode and you die?
    I mean this is one of the things that I'm scared about being a truck driver

    No, diesel isn't nearly as flammable as gasoline, and even on a gasoline tank, it's been proven in many ways that a gunshot into a tank of fuel won't make it explode. Myth Busters negated this myth, and it was done in a funny way in Arnold's film "The Last Action Hero".

    I'll make you a bet. You stand in a puddle of regular unleaded, and I'll stand in a puddle of No. 2 diesel. At the same time, we both light a match, and drop it into the pools of fuel we're standing in. Whoever survives gets to answer this question.
    There are things to worry about in truck stops, but not so much what you've got in mind.
