McLeod Express can only be as good as its drivers are! A company is a team, and changes made at McLeod are good. I have read the threads about Mcleod and there are a few angry drivers out there.
So post me on here, I have a question for all fellow drivers. If I give you money to pay for something and you are required to get me a receipt knowing if you dont I take that money back from you out of your check, would you not want to get that receipt? also hmm make a copy just in case that receipt gets lost as paper work sometimes doeswow I think that makes sense!!!! A truck is as good as its driver, I have had to slip seat some of these trucks that drivers have lived in, and as a driver of 15 years I have never kept my truck as filthy as some of these trucks are left, come on truck stops have showers, and laundry facilities USE THEM!!! no sense in going around with out a shower.
My daddy always said if you look at a persons body or their surroundings that tells you how they live, if the interior is not kept up, neither will the motor. dont buy a used car with the interior destroyed because the motor was not kept up as well. So if your truck is nasty well to me that means you dont keep the equipment up as well, I have helped drivers out with giving oil, and coolant on the road many times because its just to hard to keep that stuff in the storage box, and just to hard to raise the hood and check every time you fuel, so its fair game if you dont keep the truck up then maintenance has a bigger issue when you dont, which in turn the truck is in the shop longer. McLeod pays for coolant, oil, washer fluid on the road so call and get it.
THE GRASS IS NOT ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE, MCLEOD HAS GREAT QUALITIES, ITS UP TO THE DRIVER TO MAKE SURE THEY SHINE BECAUSE YOU ARE ON THE ROAD AS THE FACE OF MCLEOD.

A company can only be as good as its drivers. The driver is the face of the company on the road.

I have never worked for such an idiotic organization.
Do not run illegal, but yet they require it.
I have worked for many GOOD companies like Landstar and am on owner operator now. -
Please tell me how this company makes you run illegal?? I have been with them for 7 years now and the safety would be all over me if I ran illegal. It is up to you as the driver if you wish to run illegal, not sure how a company will make and require you to run illegal that is really a ridiculous statement,
did someone get in the truck and make you drive when you was not to? come on driver get real. If you dont like the company that is fine, but dont bash and say things that are in YOUR CONTROL! really makes us drivers look stupid.
I am really happy that you have a company you are happy with and glad you are staying there, only other question I have is, now that you have your own truck I have a question for you. you are 20 miles from a cheap fuel stop and you have to shut down in 5 min. and you are gonna run out of fuel, are you going to shut down in that 5 mins? or are you gonna run to the cheap fuel stop and fill up? now remember the fuel stop will be a illegal move! -
BEWARE OF DRIVERS THAT RUN ILLEGAL AND DONT TEND TO THEIR EQUIPMENT, AS THEY ARE THE ONES THAT RUIN IT FOR THE GOOD DRIVERS. A COMPANY IS ONLY AS GOOD AS ITS DRIVERS -
This is when I told them, I want a load to the yard.
YOU ASSUME drivers run illegal.
YOU were not there. -
hear hear little princess, my only question is HOW DOES A COMPANY MAKE A DRIVER RUN ILLEGAL? -
its amazing how many people will stick up for garbage no matter what they are put through. enjoy mcleod, driver, it leaves one more decent job for someone else
-
No not sticking up for garbage, I happen to like McLeod Express they have been very good to me, and I have fellow drivers that like the company as well, that have been here almost as long as I have and some longer. I was told about this web site and was told some drivers was dissing on the company and I wanted to come in and put my GOOD 2 sense in. AGAIN A COMPANY IS ONLY AS GOOD AS IT'S DRIVERS, and a company can only do so much, its the drivers that are the face of the company and I like to say I put up a pretty good face for this company. McLeod is not for everyone, but I am not going to sit idly by and just let someone bash on my company. So cheers to ya for moving on. and Hip Hip hooray for me staying. May God Bless you and your. I am not here to badmouth McLeod out of spite or kick them in the teeth because I am some vindictive ###hat. I currently work for them and can sympathize with a lot of what other folks here are saying. I have worked for this company for several years now & it really comes down to planning. I currently got a truck with E-Logs and it's like the planning department doesn't know what to do with me because they are used to the drivers being able to fudge their books in some way, shape, or form. They need to have a better grasp of the situation-even if we wanted to, neither I nor any driver with E-Logs can fudge these books! End of story! So don't dispatch us like we can!
Let's take the load that was given to me here recently for example. They send me from Albany, NY to deliver something to Pittsburg, Pa. I live 150 miles south of Pittsburg but they have just dispatched me to pick something up 140 miles north of Pittsburg going to Jersey at 7 AM on Monday and they told me to take it home because it is not my weekend to work. Does that really make sense? A little history: a couple months ago, when I needed to go home, they threw a tizzy about me going less than 100 miles empty, but now they want they want to send me 200 miles (shortest route) out of route to go home? As it stands, by the time I do get home tomorrow, I probably won't even get a 34 hr reset. Not to mention, when they sent me the plan- I got no phone number, no appointment time, address, jack nothing. I had to ask for that very important information. Plus, once I got the plan and call the "joker"-I find out that have less than ten minutes to get 140 miles away! Does this sound like professionalism?
I am not some newbie driver and I have worked with plenty of companies to know how a trucking company should be ran- especially one that is driver friendly. Anyway, from my end, it seems like the planning department is just throwing crap against the wall and seeing what sticks.
After reading through this thread, it seems that some of the office people are on here sticking up for McLeod. Well, I hope they read this! I don't ask much from this company-just let me get 2000 miles to make my guarantee, give me decent weekends at home so that I can recuperate & be ready to run for you guys, and give the drivers an ounce of respect. We are not your slaves, we are not beneath you, we are your co-workers and deserve a little co-operation because at the end of the day, it comes down to this-if the wheels ain't turning, the bank account ain't growing and guess who makes those wheels turn???? Us "steering wheel holders", that's who!Lonesome Thanks this.
