Sorry to jack the thread a wee bit, but I met with the Swift recruiter today and she told me that the fleet is equipped with APU's to keep the cab comfortable on down time.

How well does it work? Do you have to refuel it separately from the rest of the vehicle? Does it power your DC powered equipment when the main engine is off?

hate to ta say but she lied to you our fleet isnt equip with apu's ive seen hundreds of swift trucks and only seen 2 that had apu's on them

 

She specifically said something about a 1.8 gallon fuel capacity and it being capable of running 8-10 hours.

Do you idle most nights to stay comfortable in the heat/cold?

Swift is the company I am most interested in... but my biggest concern is with being comfortable when I sleep, so I sleep well and can drive well

we have webstco bunk heaters they will run without the engine running. they will keep you comfortable durning the winter. now durning the summer you just got to idle to keep cool. im not going to sweat my butt off. just dont excessively over idle and your dm wont say much to you

Got the dispatch for the load I grabbed in Decatur yesterday this morning. I left Decatur yesterday morning about 0930. Probably not the best thing to do but I thought, "Hell, I've got fuel, I know where Port Allen is, they let me out the gate with bills and a locked and loaded trailer, sooooooooooo.........SEE YA!!
