So, my trainer needed a two personal days. Normally there is no break in KLLM training. The wife was not upset that I would be able to stop back home for two nights.
Then the trainer called and said he needed another day! Darn darn darn! Marcie and I had another dinner together and a patio campfire since it was so warm in the chicago area.
Today I headed back to the yard. About 20 minutes from my arrival (1.5 hour drive) the trainer calls and says he has a hotel room. I will have chateau Le Freightliner all to myself.
I get to the yard, and check about 15 trucks for my truck number and can't find it. I go in and talk to dispatch who says "it shows" in the yard... We find it in the service area.
During the PM service on Friday they found a high pressure fuel line leaking. The part is being flown in and expected tomorrow. If they get it, it is not a major install. But if any communication was done, I could have been home for another night...
They said I could stay in the truck, but will be locked in the service yard for the night. The wife found a room nearby with a good priceline discount. So I am suffering through regular commercial ridden tv...
I know, its not a great story... I'm just bored off my arse! Thank you for indulging me. Hehehehehee

Very cool story Mike, glad to hear happy tales of training. Nice looking truck, too. So did you go to school or does KLLM train ya from the git-go ?

I did the minimal 160 hour school to get licensed. Though I did not know 160 hours of "schooling" was so minimal at the time...
Being on the road for real is the only real training.
Picture my trainer throw his arms up saying, "I don't know what you are going to do in that position" as I am backing a few feet out of position...

See, that's kinda what I was thinking too, and almost went that route, but with all the companies I checked into that had their own program, as great as they were, none of 'em seemed to offer me as good a situation as the route I'm taking. I can work my current job through april and put a l'il scratch in my pocket while I go to school which is just minutes away, the company I am thinking about going to has a location for orientation/training not too far away AND has a hub/terminal right here in my city, so, it just seemed like a good situation. Plus, I figure if the company will reimburse my tuition AND I show up already having spent some time behind the wheel and learning some basics, all the better, yeah ?!
