So you know that scale off of 151 when you just cross into WI from Dubuque, IA. I can't ever remember seeing that sign stating the scale was open. I'm just wondering if anyone out there has ever seen that scale open?

If you don't know which one I'm talking about it's #11

It is open every now and then. I just went across it in the last two weeks.

I drive by there everyday and it always says closed. Seems like a ginormous waste of money to me. Although I wouldn't mind job shadowing there, I'd like to know exactly what the DOT inspectors look for and in what kind of detail.

I go through there alot myself coming off Hwy 11 and it seems to me its one of those that you'll find open when you "least" expect it to be and don't "want" it to be lol.

That's about 4 miles from our terminal. I been in there once in 3 years. The man was very friendly that runs it.

I have never seen it open. It WILL be though, the one time you are taking a chance and are a little overweight! :biggrin_25525:

I ran quite a few loads up through there last summer and never saw it open once. Makes a person wonder about it. Doesn't hurt my feelings about it being closed so much, but you guys are right, it could bite you if you're not prepared for it.

At last, the scale was open today. Must have been 15 trucks waiting to get in. If you are headed that way prepare to stop.

you do know that them portable scales are never right. there have been court cases over tickets given that have been tossed becuz of the jostling and bouncing these things receive which make them very unreliable. and if im wrong diesel bear or scalemaster can correct me.
