The lower mainland just seems full of drivers and people who will work for next to nothing. Im thinking now to head north or to Alberta

That's maybe a bit too optimistic, from my point of view. I know that it is far easier to find a job when you are already in Canada, but believe me, trying to get a job from some foreign country...you wouldn't believe the replies i got from the companies :( I appreciate all the help I get here and some of the things are very useful to know. Anyways, I wanted to thank you all for your interest on this topic in the first place, and for all the help that I get!

Oh and by the way, I don't have anyone translating for me, I have Cambridge University degree on English and I actually got a bit rusty, but will do my best to improve. And I hope not to get the job just because my English is good but because of my driving skills.

Well I agree that it would be much more difficult to get a job in Canada if you're applying from over the pond. What I said applies to those already here though. Mostly to Nate. I feel there is no such thing as "Its too hard" type of whining. If you're applying from out of country its still doable but it presents another type of challenge for a driver to overcome.

Still...If you want it, there are ALWAYS options. One just has to find them.

I wonder if you took a 'vacation' here and looked around for a company then make the arrangements? Then you could go home and get the visas?

    I am applying from Serbia

I started looking for the job in late January. Here is a sample of my applications on a job site. View attachment Applications.txt plus all the companies that I've contacted by mail.

Hehe nice suggestion, and I did take that into consideration, BUT I need a tourist(visit) visa(some countries don't need it, Serbia does) and that costs money, than you have the regular work permit that's also very expensive, and two return airplane tickets to Calgary for example(one costs approximately 1400CAD) and when you add all up.... Well. if I had that kind of money I wouldn't be looking for a job in Canada :D
(average monthly wage here is 430CAD. yea, average)
Also, if I get caught doing that, I may be banned to enter US and Canada.
