fifth wheel adjustment

    i have a 96 peterbilt 379 my fifth wheel is getting a little to much play in it i wonder if there a adjustment and what is the best method for adjustment thanks

    Turn table I think he is talking about the jaw / locking bar adjustment

    bean farms. you can adjust but be very carefull, there are a few methods to adjust. best to do a google search for the model of your 5th wheel and find instruction there, it is easy to adjust but must be done correctly, the if it will not adjust up then you will need a jaw kit

    yes i was talking about the lockig jaws sorry so they make a kit were i can put new jaws in it

    if its a holland there are two types bolt sticking out the front adjust untill you can just spin the rubber washer. allen bolt on the other type is in the back on the side. where the pin slides up in you will need a pin tool or if i remember right a 2 and half inch socket to set in the jaws when closed to adjust. i allways tighten then back off 1/2 turn.

    sorry forgot to say the socket has to be 2 and half od .

    What make and model of 5th wheel have you got??????


    They don't all adjust the same way so would be nice to know.

    i couldnt find a name on it. it has one jaw in the back i think its a holland

    1 jaw bar, sounds like a Fontaine. Does it have a 3/4 head bolt on the right side of 5th wheel?
