Have any of you guys or gals ever been approached to take something to somewhere no questions asked? If so how have you avoided this? Last thing i want to do is get caught with something illegal. Is there certain places to go with less of this than others?
Thanks B

The only say to avoid this is to say no, and walk away.
-
Uh - anything wrong with just saying NO?

Been watching Black Dog, have you? If you were driving in South Africa, it would be a legitimate concern. I really don't think you have to worry yourself over that here, especially if you're working for a major carrier.
Shippers trying to push you to run an overloaded trailer... that IS a legitimate concern. Being tasked to haul guns or drugs.. not so much. Think about it... if I were a gun runner, would I want a complete stranger - who the only thing I know about is that they can drive a truck - transporting something for me that could cost me hundreds of thousands of Dollars if something went asunder? Absolutely not - I'd look to people I know and trust for that sort of thing, not some Joe off the street. -
If you don't think you can say no, I have some stuff that you could move for me. Consignee actually wants the stuff, so he'll pay you when you get there.
-
If you can't answer that, I don't think you should be driving a big truck as it shows a total lack of character and rational thinking ability...I could be wrong but I'm smelling troll...
-
Thinking more over weight... I wouldn't think anyone would approach you and ask you to move drugs either without knowing you.
-
nope, but you can move my hazmat crap. Not my problem once you start rolling with it, heck if I can get you to agree not to ask questions I'll even list it on the bills.
-
If you want to risk your license doing that, go ahead. Just tell us so that we can be a safe distance away, with cameras so we can catch it on film for posterity.

If you're overweight, you tell the shipper some of it needs to come off the trailer. If they give you a rash of crap over it, you simply tell your dispatcher what the deal is and let them deal with it. Don't go down the road like that, knowing you're not legal. You might get that notion of "yeah, I can simply bypass the scales", until you make the mistake of doing it when the 72 hour is in effect, and mobile are out and about, looking for exactly that.
