well I have to respectfully DISAGREE....we have 2 girls, 24 and 18...(country boy also has 2 kids from his previous marriage) both girls mentioned above were raised EXACTLY the same...the older one was a great kid, straight a's no drugs etc. graduated with a 3.9 GPA
the younger one, was trouble from a VERY early age....we tried ANY advice from ANYONE that would give it to us...pastors etc...she just wouldnt mind...I could spend days telling you of the things she did. She finally ran away a few days after her 13th B day...because "she didnt like our rules"..to make a long story short, she BY CHOICE lived on the streets was involved in drugs etc ..and in 09 (she was 16 )shot and left a parapledgic and STILL refuses to leave the gang/drug lifestyle alone and willingly moves from place to place and occ. on the streets from time to time....ALL SHE HAD TO DO was leave the drugs alone and the so called friends she had...and she could come home. SHE refused...

    I've heard similar stories too.

My pediatrician growing up and his wife (a psychiatrist), had three children, two boys and a girl. The girl and one of the boys followed in their fathers footsteps and became a phsician, the other boy died from a heroin overdose.

Sometimes it doesn't matter if you're from a supportive family with money - some kids are just bad news regardless.

Of course, like with any "rule" there are always exceptions. Exceptions are usually less than 1% of any rule, though.

I guess my mom got lucky. I call her "my mom." She's actually my step-mom. She raised seven, including my older brother and me. I'm the baby. And always was the biggest handful. None of the seven of us ended up in trouble. All but two have degrees earned on our own dimes. The two without degrees are both very sucessful in their fields.

Despite all of our attempts as parents to teach our children, they will do what they do. They are individual people with their own quirks, not carbon copies of their parents.

Bad parents end up with great kids. Great parents end up with awful kids. There is no real explanation why. Maybe they were switched at birth....

Ms. Giggles, you must know in your heart you did your absolute best.

Thank you Injun, that really means a lot to me!!!! We certainly tried, and tried and tired...lol...the hard part is, she is VERY intelligent...and is wasting her life...people told us that once she hit rock bottom she would straighten up. How much more rock bottom do you need than to have a 9 mm bullet perm. lodged in your spine?? They cant remove it because they are afraid it would completely paralyze her...( she is paralyzed from her chest down she can move her arms, head etc.)she should have been anyway with her injury..and somehow wasnt. The bullet actually entered into her back right above her heart and went at an upward angle and destroyed the top of her spine paralyzing her instantly. She is a beautiful smart young lady, we only pray that someday, she will realize how she is living is wrong and get her act together. I tell her on a weekly basis (yes I still talk to her and tell her altho I dont agree woth her choices, that we still love her very much and no matter what she does in life, that we always will) that she can do ANYTHING she sets her mind to, even tho she is in a wheelchair, that it may slow her down or take her a lil longer than in would someone who isnt..but that SHE CAN DO IT....the hardest thing in my life was to go to that hospital (if it wasnt for Country Boy I WOULD HAVE LOST MY MIND, that man is my rock) and to have to change undergarments on your 16 yr old like she was an infant and to see her fall over while sitting up, because she had no upper body control yet...I see it in my mind like it was yesterday....we would hold it together in front of her, then when she went to sleep we would go out in the hall and FALL to pieces....ok...enough, sorry...didnt mean to get off on this....

how the dress and cleanliness of drivers has declined has little to do with the drivers, but with the companies that support them. you cannot ask a low-paid driver that gets treated like crap at every turn to dress better for the role.

Nor can you ask a company to have respect for a person that looks and acts like a piece of trash.

    I agree with you completely.

Same here. Too bad because I am curious as to what he said, but Im not going to cross my eyes just to read that jumble of nonsense. If he cant put forth the effort, why should I?

Its unfair to assume all newbies have the mentality of the typical 'new breed' driver. There are bad apples from every generation, not just the present.
