I declined to sign on with KLLM because of the push for lease drivers. That does not mean the lease program is bad. I am not ready for that yet and don't want to go down that road. If you are ready to go down that road then merry christmas. There is a lot of things to figure out before I would do it myself.

To answer your query from my prospective. Fuel prices are literarily off the charts, as is what KLLM is paying L/P drivers. Straight O/o's get percentage which includes what co is collecting for fuel surchage. I still do not have health insurance and this a major concern. The latter is probably going to be my undoing. As to money a whole lot more even in bad weeks.
I try to do what I can to keep an eye on fuel costs. I am writing this sitting in Los Angeles, Ca.(any body want to see what the fuel cost is out here?) The last place I got fuel was in Az. $3.88 # gal. If I'm careful I think I can get back there without having tobuy fuel in Ca.
What is disturbing is I had a week that I was out all week did 1900 miles & lost money(more money went out then there was revenue). I still have not had a chance to due the post mortem on that to understand how I lost money.
My current project is trying to get a portable generator working. If I can do this I've also a portable Air Conditioner for summer.
Projections for the economy(PERSONAL OPINION): I think we are in for another downturn, andit may have started. I emptied Mon and am not pu my next load til Wed. Also load is a brokered load, not sure as to reasons. I would suspect that broker got stuck and not KLLM(When I see load I'll have a better idea). . Next couple of weeks if I,m back to hauling chicken then it's the economy.

    ROADTOAD69,
Were you ever able to get in touch with the Att. Paul Taylor? Very curious to hear what he had to say about KLLM's L/P contract and their insistance that you bring your truck to one of only two company terminals for maintenance and repairs.

they only (insist) to bring it to KLLM terminals if you are under the guaranteed maintenance plans. If you choose Escrow, you can get it repaired anywhere.

Also, they will determine it on a case by case basis. it is determined by the repairs needed. and YOUR insistence on getting it repaired where you are (you could always say it is unsafe to drive it) they either tow it for you, or authorize the repairs......

I did the lease purchase program for KLLM. From my experience one of the worst decisions i made honestly... They wouldn't give me any runs and my truck never got fixed correctly so i politely turned the truck back in... no time for foolishness!!! I wish i never chose KLLM as a company..

How long did you try the program? I have to upgrade or go home next week and I have already been told "no trucks for company drivers only lease purchase." Plus I'm trying to go SE Regional too. Might have to go to another company.

I did it for about two weeks(not really long enough to give it a chance) but it was the third time KLLM messed up my money..They still owe me a 1000 dollars also which i will probably never get... SE Regional was so packed so it wasnt much room to make as much money as you hear, but i have a friend still out there(SE Regional) he does decent but he is bout to give the truck back also. The money KLLM pays you, i believe you could make on a local gig honestly. Not to discourage anyone but from my experience I would choose another company. Hope this Helps.

it does affect us lease drivers... but it helps that the fuel surcharge goes up as fuel prices do....
