    Dear Margaret,

I drive a truck. I must produce receipts. Or I do not get MY money back. Do you know how frustrated I get when some "office" worker loses my receipts that were simply thrown in an envelope. And, I get my check shorted by $20-$200...because they were too lazy to bend over and look for "scattered" contents. Stapling 1 piece of paper.....doesn't happen unless the driver is on crack. Or he ripped the TOP copy off to keep for his records.

Fuel reciepts...are stapled by the "clerk" not the driver in most cases...would you prefer I rip them apart for you? Then you can complain the dates are missing altogether. Or is that part of your job? Do you understand the terms "truck" and "office" ? I drive in heavy traffic and b****...you sit at your desk and b****.

LOGS ???? You'll be hard pressed to find a neater set than I produce every day. I've never commented in the "remarks" section of the log. Unless it was job related...IE "Violation, 14 hr rule, .25 hrs" "Roadside DOT Level 1 inspection"

I understand that you are used to "seeing" only city and state...But the log does state plainly....REMARKS. That could mean ANYTHING...

    Best Wishes,
    Just Another Dumb Trucker:biggrin_25522:

after reading the first post 3 or 4 times, i still wasnt sure if she was serious or not...after all my dispatcher tells me to look at porn almost every day i talk to her. i can very easily see how it was taken as a serious post as it came off in the wrong tone.

but i do not think the origonal poster has deserved as much bashing as she has recieved. im just glad to have anouther log auditer to tell me how im screwing my coloring book up this week, seriously. i have learned more from this forum concerning logs and even split-berthing ( in an easy to understand context) than even from poeple i know in the dot or other drivers i have worked with in the past

do i turn in messy logs?heck no
i will redo and continue to redo them until i can read my crappy handwriting, and i log to the nearest city, not the yard stick. i must be doing something right as i havent gotten a verbal spanking yet

in short, givin the time to get to know you, and the correct tone for the message, im sure you will become a productive member of this site.
besides you log checkers probaly know more about the intracities of proper loggin than i ever care to know, but hey i'll listen and if i am wrong i will change, otherwise ill just grab my blue crayola and drive on

I want to clarify with you (not against you) that anything "job related" should be noted in the remark section. It looks so much better to DOT and myself (as a log auditor/manager; oppss usually don't use that line here). I don't care to hear your personal business unless it is positive; such as having a great day, happy b-day to me, etc. THe point is dont write I just took a p**s. That I do not care to hear and my boss will give you a call not to do that again (VP ACTION).

So any auditor (she is no auditor, she is someone who sits at home and does data entry, so please understand the difference) would be greatfull if you write down what you are doing :). I actually require my drivers to write what they are doing except their persoal business. It is of course no major violation if they don't write it, but we will talk about it. Does the talk do any good:biggrin_25523:

Remarks section is just that. To write comments in that area! It is not limited to the city & state. The DOT regulations book states you must write the City & State very clearly. You can write break, fuel, toll, scale, it's my birthday today; happy b-day to me :). That's what the remark section is.

Please don't tell me your personal business though, unless it is clean and funny :)

OFF TO LOG WORLD, YUK I AM TIRED TODAY

It would probably make your life easier if we just falsified and prelogged our weeks and turned them in, oh as long as we strategically routed our fake trips to the right fuel islands. My first year, I even made things easier by fueling up, logging a 34 hr restart and driving 800 miles off the books. You guys never seem to mind that.
