That thing is way overkill. It's a 10,000 watt generator used to power an overhead A/C unit that requires at best 1,800 watts. I'm guessing that unit also burns as much fuel per hour as the truck or close to it. And for those who have APU's in their trucks you know that generator heads need to be either replaced or rebuilt from time to time. That setup is going to require 2 days just to get it out so you can take the gen head off.

did you watch the videos? It burns less then a Tri Pac APU. And like I said if you watch his other videos you'll see whats INSIDE the truck that he needs that much power for. He's a chef he's got a convection oven and Huge fridge and a Huge Deep Freezer in there plus a bunch of other stuff....

Not sure where you got your info but a Tri Pac burns around .2 gallons per hour. The unit he is using is a Kubota Model D1005BG which burns .41 at half load, .63 at 3/4 load and .84 at full load.

The unit cost $4,999 not including shipping. After buying the control panel, box, muffler and all the other stuff I'm guessing he spent well over the cost of a real APU installed by a professional.

I got my info straight from warren, if you watch the videos on YouTube you can see the comments below and you can see our disscussion. I'm not sure what he spent but i do know that it was allot less then the $10,000 for a TriPac, and this generator is allot more reliable and needs allot less maintainence then a apu does....Plus the more power and quiter so I think he came out ahead on this project.

Just read the spec on the link I posted. Not sure why you would believe that guy over the specs for the unit. Here's a breakdown of the costs. I didn't include the 10 days of labor to do the job either.

This guy Warren from my point of view isn't the smartest bulb for building this.

    Lets see.

    Unit cost $4,999
    Shipping $800
    A/C unit on top $1,000
    Box $800
    Control Panel $500
    Muffler $200
    Welding $300
Brakets and 1,000 other parts $500

So far we are up to over $9,000 and the Tri Pac cost $8,000

ok your a little off with a few things

    1. He already had the Roof AC from his last truck
    2. The control pannel came with the Generator
    3. Not sure if that where he got all that stuff from or at those prices, and him and his buddy did all the work for free

I can almost garentee you that he didnt pay $200 for that cheapo muffler lol

The Tri Pac comes with an A/C. To duplicate that you need to buy an A/C hence the cost of the A/C unit.

The control panel did NOT come with the unit. The only thing that comes with it is a key start. That remote panel to auto start is an option. I did not include the cost of the other panel he made also which is NOT included.

And that muffler, pipe and resonator is about right.

Maybe you should have him build one for you?
