Really?
How about....No one will buy them. The reason that C.O.E. trucks went away is because the market for them dried up as a result of the loosening of the overall length restrictions.
They were a necessary evil back then and now (fortunately for drivers) they are no longer necessary.

Sooooo........our roads aren't getting any bigger, trailers are getting longer(avg trailer in 95 was 48' now it's 53' with longer ones coming), and for some baffling reason, tractor wheelbases are getting longer.
Yet no cabovers. This is smart?
Trucker please.
Cabovers are cheaper to operate, get better mpg and are much easier to maneuver.
i think it's high time for a comeback. -
As usual....You have no clue what you're talking about!
-
Dude,
When are you gonna learn that you're wasting your time talking to all the people here that have been trucking half as long as you have and know twice as much as you do? -
The only advantage of COE is easier to maneur and a bit better safety.
EU COE trucks are with very heavy cabins else they would be death boxes in accidents.
As a yard truck we use old F12 with shorted frame and one rear axe removed...Now it is 4x2 trucktor

there is another problem with that type of cab overs in US
those trucks are even empty heavier than 12000lbs on front axle
we have here different laws
last week i was at scales and paper i get shows how many load i have per axle total and all things
and it shows it is legal now to have 2x9ton(almost 40000lbs) on front and 19t on rear -
get better mpg
Yeah right ,areodynamic as PUSHING a brickwall into the wind
-
scania make some research and result was that COE ( r cab) has lower air drag than conventional ( T cab)
because of less vortex and some other things which i dont know how to write them on englishPowell-Peralta Thanks this. -
Yeah, weight EU cab is twice heavier US cabine and moved to front, so weight distribution will differ. But when we use US trucks here all they are 6x4 and EU limits are for 4x2 trucktors and we have no axe load problems in CIS.
Some UK COE truks are 6x2 ore 6x4. Wierd for Europe configuration with push axe (usally steer push axe), but they have no axe load issues too -
i have heard that as well--that a coe will get beter mpg than a conv because of less drag--being just one flat surface to cut the wind as compared to a few flat ones cutting the wind---
but after driving a coe for a good time---i cant see that being true---cause if you turned and headed into the wind--it was #### near like hitting a wall---on a bad day--couldnt even keep it in 13 cause of the windPowell-Peralta Thanks this.
