And just a few more figures. His unit is way overkill. Just to operate that unit as opposed to units already on the market requires him to burn .3 gallons per hour more then units made for trucks. That comes out to $12 more per day to run for 10 hours which comes out to $2,400 more per year for fuel for lets say 200 days.

No, you need to read the spec that I posted. It does not come with that panel. He has the optional panel that does the auto start. That is an option.
-
i don't believe his goal was to save fuel, it was to get the power he wanted and to get it without buying a APU that is going to constantly break down vs. a reliable Generator.

I give up.

I never got the impression that this was a "look what I can do for less and it is better" project. This was a project to meet his needs. Period. From watching him. I am sure that if he wanted to build a better APU for less money that functioned like a TK or Carrier I am sure that he could do it.
But he is clearly not your average Bear.
I am surprised the unit only weighs 650lbs. Looked like it pushed 1,000. -
That would make a great unit for backup power at a house or primary for a camp. There is no alternator on the unit either so it can't charge your batteries unless you hook up a battery charger to it.
-
Yeah but I think I remember that he had that issue handled from something that he already had set-up with shore power. He pointed out a low batt setting that would fire the unit up.

yep thats right

I know this is probably a stupid question but how do you clean up all the cooking equipment and utensils afterward when you cook in the truck?
I know one thing, I am definitely making the steak diane here at home! That looked darn good.
