    You are exactly right about that. I just quit JB, and they are the worst company I've ever worked for, that dont give a crap about anyone. Orientation was a joke, and your right they dont have your application processed before you get to orientation. There were guys being sent home that had driven from AZ to Cali two and three days in to orientation. I was one of the lucky ones that got a truck after the fourth day of class. In the two weeks I was there I didn't get a load over 350 miles and they had the nerve to give me a 59 mile run and another one that picked up in Mira Loma and deliver in Mira Loma. Yeah they give you $40 short haul pay but after sitting three of four hours its not worth it. They keep saying it will get better and it doesn't. I'm lucky I dont have alot of bills to pay or I wouldn't be able to pay them right now. Be aware of this company please, they are a waste of time if your going to drive OTR or Southwest 6 regional. I have heard that they have pretty good dedicated accounts and I cant comment on those except that if you are applying for a dedicated account they do a hair test.

    in, claiming a motorist complaint. After being directed to make 2 more stops, was sent to HUB, pulled off run, terminated for "doing a u-turn"!

    After [messing] around with J.B. since mid-May, I finally told the recruiter that I wouldn't be going to work for them. I told the guy that I just can't find anyone that has a good word to say about JB Hunt.

    Hunt is just universally despised, they may as well have a sentence in their Mission Statement, "In pursuit of our collective goals it is essential to achieve Six Sigma in driver DISSATISFACTION."

    I have spoken to at least 20 of their drivers. Not one has said "great place to work." The responses without exception are:

    1. horrible;
    2. biggest mistake I ever made;
    3. This place sucks;
    4. I have been in this business 25-years and this is the worst company I ever worked for;
    5. No miles;
    6. Don't do it, this place sucks.

    Not one has offered their name or employee number in an attempt to get a referral bonus!

    I search for answers as to why a business would choose to operate in such a manner. I can find none. Don't give me the line that they are a publicly traded company and only care about the stock price. Employee turnover and dissatisfaction are a drag on earnings.

    Driver turnover is an industry problem. Doing a little research on this reveals that management is out of touch. They all point at training and recruitment as the answer.

    Retention is given lip service. One "GENUIS" Executive stated "I have no idea how to stop this perk race," His comment fully illustrates how out of touch and insensitive management is towards the drivers. Lets look at the "PERKS" drivers get:

    1. Overpriced medical insurance with outrageous deductibles.
    2. The fewest paid Holidays in the working world.
    3. Pay and bonus schemes designed to squeeze every possible cent out of the drivers pay check.
    4. No paid sick or personal days.
    5. Uncompensated time for shipper and receiver delays.
    6. Piss poor 401K programs with minimal company contributions.
    Company turnover (office, marketing, etc.) would mirror driver turnover if everyone in the company enjoyed the wonderful PERKS the driver gets.

    Well I have gotten off topic.

    Suffice to say JB ain't a good company to drive for. On the bright side, recruiters have a ton of job security;-)

    Well you have a right to your opinion but you know what they say about opinions. Great to hear you have good experiences with JB Hunt. Every coin has two sides to it unfortunately with JB Hunt many of their coins have the same picture on both sides.

    last time i said anything about jb hunt i was actually taking up for them. i just got a new fleet manager with jb and it has been a fight from the word go. i am just getting 1700-2000 mls a week and he is telling me friehgt is bad in the areas that i am goin. freight cant be bad everywhere i go. it just isnt humanly possible. i try not to be too much of a of a bother but what happen. the first time with jb was kinda of fun, with a good f/m that knew what he was doing to a fight every single day just to get my miles. i guess everyone was right about jb. time to go back to being a tanker yanker:biggrin_25523:

    This seems to be a recurring theme: you go somewhere and drive company trucks. Its cheap but its ok. Then about 3 -6 months later, you get a "new manager" who dicks you over royally. Quit, and they will threaten your first born son lol.

    I think some of their drivers do make good money, like at swift. If you are an experienced, returning driver, who left as a pet, you get money and miles. Otherwise, you are slave.

    But My experience with JB hunt, was limited to orientation, and pleading phone calls to my cell phone when I turned them down. I have hazmat, tankers, doubles and triples endorsement with 2 years plus experience. They sent me to orientation, which consisted of a bossy guy ranting for a few hours, and lots of charts, graphs and the standard 1970s safety videos. When they got to the part about slip seating trucks, I called them on it, said their recruiter told me they didn't slip seat trucks. The "recruiter" turned out to be a manager posing as a recruiter, since they were behind on recruits, and he supposedly got fired later. I stayed in orientation. The medical facility in the trailer outside put extra 40 pounds in my crate, for the lifting and carrying tests in the occupational tests. I did it anyways, and complained to the facility manager that they illegally added weight to my crate. They don't like 140lb white males, I guess. I showed them anyways. Then they sent me home with a check for orientation because I had my license suspended in ca once for failure to appear over a bridge law ticket. I have been driving in CA for 1 year since then, with ticket paid off and reinstated license. But they are too lazy to look it up. Their recruiters call and plead with me to drive for them but I just turn them down. I have a hazmat and should be making $70k, but I'm making $500 a week as a yard dog driver now, and getting laid at least, i get home and eat my food with my wife and love it.
