Well here I sit in Springfield. I got here yesterday. After talking with several friends and drivers from this board I decided to come to Prime. I will not mention my buddy here at Prime until I know if he wants me to use his screen name or real name.

Here is how I got here. The guy I was to drive log truck for called me and said he only had enough work for about 2 weeks and gave me the option to work or not. I chose not to. I called my recruiter at Prime from last year and she put me on fast forward got me approved and I was on my way here yesterday via plane. I will get reimbursed $204 for the ticket which is fine by me.

So yesterday went like this. Woke up at 4:30 am to catch flight from Portland that left at 7am and arrived in Springfield at 6pm. Got ride to Campus Inn got check in squeaked in dinner went to SIM lab decided to wait.

TODAY woke up at 5:30 got ready, filled out paperwork, did physical and copied of license and birth certificate. Physical is pretty basic, needed card from my CPAP downloaded and a few things faxed from DOC. Complete interview with paperwork, went to SIM lab scored 100% on the test, and then finished day with a video on truck maintenance basically PRE-TRIP on truck and reefer trailer.

I am using PDA-net on my phone since the wifi here is touch and go. I will post an update every few days similar to my experience with my other company.

Oh and I need to keep 20k with trainer so decided to go out flatbed to learn something and thanks to my buddy for setting me up with someone to train with that seems to be like a pretty good guy. He said learn what I need to learn and he wont mind kicking me off early as long as I got it down. I wont get off truck until I fully understand securement. From talking with several drivers here it appears flatbed is busy, I have met 5 flatbedders and 3 reefer drivers and they all love what they do. 2 of the flats were in reefer but switched to flat when it was slower since they appeared to get more freight. Oh and they6 were lease and 1 was company 2 months about to jump into lease.

    Everyone be safe out there.

    bobbybaldwin Thanks this.

Let us know as much as you can about the flat side. Ive found info on that side very sparse and it seems the drivers on the road are always goin the opposite direction I am so Im having a helluva time getting a good fix on the flat side. I get a lot of response from reefer guys on here but they dont understand flats run way different than reefers so their info is pretty useless past truck payments.

Of course we understand that flatbed is way different than reefer. That's why we don't give you much to work with...

    We don't do tarps!

You guys don't do grocery DCs in the middle of the night!

Well the week is over and my sleep apnea has me on hold, the doctor is waiting for a fax of my latest sleep study, I had the card downloaded and I am 100% compliant just needs the fax info and I am free now I get to sit here all weekend. I am not too happy but understand and respect the safety side so I understand. Will be over to the terminal for every meal heck I may just hang out there all day tomorrow who knows. I am still very impressed with these guys. I hope to be on my trainers truck on Monday.

Once I am on the road I will be happy to give a flatbed perspective for everyone as well.

Im in town for repairs. I will be checking into the hotel in the morning (Sunday)

send me a private message if you want to meet up.

Another regular Priime poster around here at TR is in town also. I dont know if he wants me to broadcast his business... so he is currently nameless. But he might be able to discuss his Leasing experiances.

Just for clarification, did we look like recruiters working in a cushy office?

I'm gonna guess no. Here at Prime we go all out to propagate the illusion by having us dress normal and ride the shuttle. You didnt think our chance meeting was coincidence, did you? (hehe)

(oozing sarcasm for those without a clue)

Cage, Good luck with Prime. They sound like a great company but I hear they have a BMI check so I know I wouldn't be able to pass. Hell, lost 70 pounds but I doubt it is enough for their standards. Unless I'm mistaken?
