Job Hopper???

A guaranteed 850 a week as a new driver? That is a pretty good deal. Be prepared to make less than that plenty of weeks if you leave.

 

I would stick it out another 6 months if you can. When looking for a new job make sure you do a lot of research before choosing a company. Myself I don't like working for big companies such as the one your working for now. They lose sight of taking care of the equipment and drivers, and just start to focus on the money. Money is always an issue with any company but with bigger ones you just become a #.... I just switched companies and love driving for the company I do.

 

where should i start?..lol...actually its what they didnt do, they didnt care, so i didnt care. I was averaging around 1400 miles a week and not going home every week like i was suppose to. Ive been trucking long enough to know that I won't make it home every week, but when im sitting 80 miles from home on Saturday and they say its to far, then turn around two weeks later and let me bobtail 140 miles home really doesnt make much sense to me. I stuck with them for 9 months and grossed just over 16grand....and that is GROSS, not Net income, you can do the math cause im to lazy..lol...but i know it equals to junk..lol....oh, and when they put trailer tires on the FRONT of the truck instead of regular steer tires, i didnt want the hazard.

 

Im not saying that 6 months isnt enough, but a full year is alot better. IF you are just missing hometime a little, but still make a decent pay, say atleast 2000 miles a week, maybe its better to stay for now. Everyone has a different pay/mile post they need to average a week according to their lifestyle, if you are living okay on what you make now, hang in there. If your down around the 1500 mile mark and missing home more than you should, then maybe you should start looking. good luck to ya.

 

I say stick it out for awhile. If you really enjoy working for the company, find out if there's a way to talk to someone about your home time concerns or look for another dedicated account with the company.

Seriously, if that's your only complaint, you're doing pretty good!
