No and NO! LOL
I run paper logs and trust me - they "ping" your truck and they know where you are and when you were there. You may try to cheat it - but they'll catch you and trust me - you dont want that message that say's
"CALL DAN MILLIS" (LOL) He's not calling to welcome you too the company!
If you cant run the load legally - tell your dispatcher and they will either change the appointment time or change your load to one you can run with in your HOS.
Also - DOT is really cracking down on HOS so make sure you are "right and tight"! I have been out here for 11 months now and have had 4 DOT inspections - passed all with 100% and I am still running between 2700 and 3300 miles a week. -
Thanks for the response Baritone. Running honestly and legally is important to me too, so it's good to know safety his a priority at Millis.

Hey Baritone, things sure have changed at Millis then. When I worked there my dispatcher gave me a load from richfield WI. to Cartersville Ga. I had allready run 4 hours that day when I got that load and he needed it there at 0800 the next morning. It was 1500 when I got the load you tell me if I was expected to run legal. Ohh, I beleave it was a friday to.
-
ohh, Baritone how do you find you channel on youtube?
-
srick773, if you accepted that load without telling your disp. that you couldn't make it on time and you didn't have enough hrs......well then you would be the one at fault on that one....sorry man!!
If you accepted that load knowing you couldn't run it legal cause you wanted the miles....good easy overnight run by the way... then.....you would be the one at fault again....sorry again!! I'm sure you were not told to run illegal!!
Not meaning to bust your chops man, but it all falls back on the driver. Back in the day, a lot of drivers did a bit of "creative logging" and I was one of them, however times are a changin!!! There are so many more drivers (cars and trucks) on the roads now that running legal is pretty much a necessity due to DOT cracking down on the Hrs of Service rules. Elec logs are coming and soon it will be mandated for ALL carriers to go that way.
It all comes down to safety for the driver and the company. If people continue to drive like that then sooner or later something bad is going to happen and someone may not come out of it alive.
Sorry everyone...didn't mean to get on a soapbox and preach but I've done the same kinda stuff because of greed $$$$$$ and absolutely NO ONE here at Millis EVER TOLD me to run illegal!! Two years ago disp didn't keep up with their drivers' hrs like they do now so you had to let them know that you couldn't make it and if you didn't say anything.....well roll with it!!
I'm done now...see ya'll -
Go to you tube and search Daveb1092000 or Davidb1092000 can't remember which one.

Have to agree with MrG here in 6 years here was never told to run illegal but did do it for the money and like he said it is not worth the risk if you get caught or have a accident doing it.

^ You can find Baritone's videos by doing a search for his username: Daveb1092000
He has some good ones in there! -
I have never been scolded for, or afraid to say I don't have the hours to make it. Honestly, I think it bothers me more than dispatch.
