Thanks Gunrunner84. I did in-fact pass! It turns out that I will be working for Maverick. I'm waiting on my orientation date. With any luck there is an instructor driver that lives in my neck of the woods. I looked at RoadMasters but went with Apollo. I cant recommend Apollo enough. I know that I have an enormous amount of things to learn, but that being said, I feel completely confident in the driving abilities that Apollo has given me. We'll see how it goes.

 

Ohio's a big state so i'm sure there is a driver trainer (shudder) that lives near you.

also welcome to Maverick. Now that you have passed your driving school and obtained your CDL and can back up and park a sliding axle trailer. Once you finish orientation, you can learn to drive an automatic in manual, back and park a split axle trailer. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than a freight box with the axles slid as far forward as possible. They turn on a dime, us spread axle trailers...we need $1.25.

Just remember all you have is an invite to come to a job interview. You are in no way hired at Maverick yet. I recommend to people that they have a back up plan just in case for some reason you do not get a job offer.
Some do not make it so I am not trying to throw a wet blanket on you...just keeping it real as Randy Jackson always says.

 

Well once again I thank all of ya'll for your information. I made it thru orientation, load securement, glass securement in laurinburg, and the first week with the driving instructor. To say that it has been a whirlwind of a time and events would be an extreme understatement. Not that it is impossible but it is a must to pay extreme attention to details. I didnt go to a driving school so it may have been an extreme experience for myself because of that. I can confirm that all of the instructors and corporate personel are there to help if needed. I got to meet rugerdave in laurinburg and who I believe was the one and only Dolly Lama while i was taking my final exam in laurinburg (she was meeting her new female student that was sitting next to me in class) I once again thank everyone for their information and input but most of all for Jim the Hut for starting this thread. I look forward to meeting you out there and personally shaking your hand if given the chance.

I really like the level of professionalism I have seen at Maverick. They have never told me a bunch of B.S. I get home most weekends. Sometimes I dont, thats just the way it goes sometimes. They told me that in orientation. I'm finishing up my training and getting my own truck in a few days.

 

Can you take a pet with you?

 

no, they have a no pet policy.

 

Maverick recruiter called me and asked that i complete my application. I did and he called right back. He said everything looked good and that he would call back in a week. Now I don't finish school until May. So I have a little under 4 weeks to go. I guess what I would like to know is there a long application wait time? How do they pick drivers? Are there a lot on women at Maverick?

 

yes to pets. But it must be a pet rock.LOL

There is not a real long wait time.

There's not a lot of women flatbeding.
