You might not realize it, but you have already dodged your first bullet. It would have been a huge mistake to have teamed with the prospective co-driver that has "already" found a girlfriend. That is all that he was looking at you for. Consider that a lucky break.

The team truck driving concept is awash with so many inherent issues in regards to simply having two humans spending that much time together in such confined and stressful environs. Add on the additional complications of a male/female situation and the likelihood of trouble is not only palpable, but probable.

Put your big girl knickers on and always remain professional. Truck teaming with a stranger is a business arrangement, not a relationship.

Best of luck out there, Tammie.

Hope you get a decent trainer, Tammie. Not all are concerned about you or what you need to know. Just remember, you are a human being that deserves a certain degree of respect. Don't let someone cross lines they shouldn't be. Hopefully, you may get someone that will instill good habits and cause you to think and BE a professional. We are all learning..just different lessons...May the wind be at your back..

Well I am out on the road with a really good lead driver. I am learning everyday and there is never a dull moment. Glad I decided to do this. Everything is so far so good with CRST. I will keep you posted. Thanks all!

Sounds like you got a good trainer. That is a good start. Do your best to learn and pay attention. I'm sure you will be fine. Get through training and the fun begins. you will still be learning, just new stuff. BTW, how much experience does this lead driver have> Curious is all. Temptnfates

He has 6 yrs OTR. Really great guy. The only really hairy area belive it or not was not downtown Chicago. Those ppl seem to be suicidal but I paid attention so I did fine, but the 1st time I had to back got a little tricky. He stayed calm which kept me calm and I got her backed in. Shwew! Lol! That & I keep grinding 5th when I down shift...but he hasn't screamed # me yet. I get better everyday though. Be safe all!:biggrin_25522:

Already backing into docks? Holy CRST!!!!

    BTW.........even G/MAN still grinds 5th gear downshifting.:biggrin_25522:

Kudos to your trainer! Glad that he is taking good care of you!

I'm so happy to read that all is working out so well for you!

Perhaps, you might consider 'paying it forward' to poster, bikegoon. I have a feeling that he is going to need some positive reinforcement in the weeks to come.............

    Roll on driver!

I very rarely scrap a gear, but it happens every now and then with everyone. The trick is to take your time shifting. Your truck will tell you when it is ready to shift. :biggrin_2555:
