First off, thanks for this thread! It's very informative!
I plan to go to Stevens May 2 for school then hit the road with a trainer. I live about 45 mins away from the school so I will stay at home and drive each day.
I have put together a list of things I plan on taking with me on the truck with the trainer. I am trying to keep it at a minimum. Do you see anything that could be left off or anything that needs to be added?
I dont like sleeping bags so I am planning on sheets instead. Also, I assume that I will be speaking with my trainer before we hit the road and I will ask how often he does laundry so the amount of clothes may be adjusted.

Minus the time I spent on a commercial fishing vessel how does one plan or acclimate for bathroom breaks. The "pee bottle" thing doesn't bother me as we did that for safety reasons on boats. I'm concerned....yeh laugh if you want...about the #2 schedule. Hey we all got a different time.

When I was with my trainer he had a KW T600. ask anyone how small that is. Only thing I was told to bring was 7 days worth of clothes, Personal hygene items, and something for entertainment. The last was incase we stopped to early and I could'nt sleep, but after 4 or 5 days you don't have a problem sleeping. Although I had a good trainer. He was'nt one of these guys that slept while I drove. Ya see when your in your trainers truck, your the guest, your in HIS home, don't bring so much crap that you make a nuisence of yourself. when you get your own truck then you do what you want. ohh, I did bring my own atlas. part of trip planning. He always wanted to see my trip plan before every trip. I had the deluxe model atlas so All I had to do was use a dry erase marker to mark the route.

have not read the entire thread but alot and well few post pack someone posted quite a bit he/she is bringing and question now if i may have to much.
3ft duffel bag that can be wadded up in a small area.
2 pillows sheet for mattress sheet to sleep with and medium size blanket to stay warm.
tooth brush/paste floss
deoderant and soap for shower
towel and wash cloth in case terminal doesn't have one
3 paints/6 shorts/ 8 shirts 10 underwear.
few socks
one sweat shirt
and assortment of meds
1 small back pack for say carrying cloths to go take shower and brush teeth in truck stop.
Probably pickup some wipes and a few magazines to read plus pen whiteout and notepad
is this ok or should I take less cloths?
looks like alot in the duffel bag but it's for about 9 days clothing maybe 10.
I just don't want a trainer to be mad with to much stuff. -
Ok so I didnt think about the white out, but everything else I thought of. And the laptop, well, I would take it to orientation and leave it in the hotel room while you are in orientation class, and then the day you go get in the truck with the trainer, take it with you. I just recently worked BRIEFLY for a company and had mine out on the road with me. Easy way to keep in touch with family at night when you're done driving for the day.
