So if you don't work for them how do you know? I have stated I have pulled FAC loads. How is this too hard to comprehend? This guy didn't come here asking for help, he came here to blast the company I work for. No one expects opposition when bad mouthing a company. If help was asked for it would have been done to the best of my ability, it was posted in reporting a bad company.

 

Sounds like it's the DM, a former driver who was a metal cowboy super trucker or just knows someone who knows the tricks of running outlaw style. Not the company I don' t think but you'll know if you try to report him and you get some crap about it being all your fault for running illegal. Maybe he's trying to get fired because that's pretty risky sending messages and calling to make you run when you can't.

 

man do i ever feel for you this whole story sums up my trucking career so far, sounds like Schneider and Knight together. Actually schneider just treated me like carp all around knight on the other hand (those little a-holes they are) would run me 16-18hrs a day, one time they wanted me to run from houston to cincinnati in one day i told them that there is no way in hell i can make it to cinncy by 10am if im leaving here at 3pm, then my dispatcher called me and said "just do it, just try" and i said i cant that it's not possible,then she started telling me how to fudge my log book and to start carring another log. I have other stories about knight that fit this subject nicely but im just gonna say I totally understand where you are coming from, I too often wondered why other drivers were treating me like crap, or why do shippers and receivers treat me like crap, why do dispatchers treat ALL of us like dirt? Truth is they just don't care but not everyone is like that, there is greenier grass then what you are standing on and one company that might take you is Crete, i've been hearing alot of good stuff about them and i too am thinking of applying with them. But anyways, just hold your head up be strong and start saying no to them please, good luck

 

What is FAC anyway?

From your posts, I can guess "F" stands for "Fudge", as in 'fudge your logs'.

Maybe it stands for "Fudge And Cruise".

I guess companies are getting ever-more desperate, as when I drove, only the little companies would try to "force" me to fireball runs. They couldn't really tell me to run something hot, but they could sure punish me if I didn't. If I couldn't make an overnight run to Phoenix from Ogden, Utah in one shift (it was a 13-hour drive back when the 10-hour shift was in effect), I'd be sitting for a day as sort of a punishmet. "Run it or sit" was the unspoken rule with more than one of the outfits I worked for. I see the big boys are doing that crap now.

One thing I noticed about Swift is that you can run how you want as long as you "log legal" but I never had anyone give me any illegal tips. besides my trainer anyway. I tried to mention I could fix up my log to do a run over the phone with my DM and he said "we aren't supposed to talk about things like that."
I wonder if the driver that died was running illegal, or just under trained or what. My first trainer was a mess and he ended up quitting before I asked for another one. The second one had 15 yrs exp and trained me really good, and how to "log legal."
You really should know the "tricks" when you are first starting out because you will run over hrs and not be sure what to do about it. There's no way you can know which routes at which times will take so long and which shippers and info you can count on at certain times of year. But eventually, you shouldn't have to live by creative logging and companies shouldn't encourage it.
It was a one on one session with safety at the Swift Laredo Terminal that really helped reinforce what the trainers at the private school I went to would always say. If you are going to be going through a metro area, try and time it so it's not at rush hour. If it's NYC, get there early and get out because you will get trapped if you don't, maybe not even be able to dock period. If only it was like an assembly line where the more hrs you put in at any time of day, the more production achieved.

 

Hey, DeepC. Much of the advice here about your situation has been spot on. However, although it solves may problems, it doesn't solve the problem of your unemployment pending your next job and the ensuing mounting bills.

The Federal Government has created a remedy for this type of situation called, the "Whistle Blowers Act" (WBA). The WBA permits you to blow the whistle on your company while guaranteeing you your job status quo. Once you blow the whistle on them (invoke the WBA) they cannot fire you, demote you, punish you, or harass you in any manner whatsoever. Basically, you have complete autonomy while the investigation ensues (nor can they retaliate even if your allegations are proved negative). Contact an attorney, or your local union rep. for specifics. They will walk you through it and monitor both you and your company (as will the investigators) during the pendency of the federal investigation against them.

In short, taking this route will result in; not losing your present job and keeping up with your financial obligations; not be forced to run illegally any more; permitting you to look for another job pending the investigation; and you will find the investigators very sympathetic to your previous indiscretions, which resulted from your companies coercion against you.

Moreover, the previous advice regarding you being around in the future for your wife and children should ring abundantly clear to you, not to mention any collateral damage caused by your tired driving, so I can be around for mine.

I work OTR for them. they totally suck.

Here is what I get...4-6 weeks out at a time.
2200-2400 mile weeks.
Told by night dispatch to cook the books, and that I am stupid for not doing it.

Now I DID get good miles before I complained.

So to the moron defending TransAm I have a truthful question for you.
How many felonies do you have?

 

Why can't he tell you that? It is not uncommon at all for this to happen with large companies. Back when I started out with JB Hunt, and they were about the largest going at the time, they had no trucks in Dallas and sent 3 of us to California in a rental car to get trucks.
Upon my first time to take a couple days off, I sit for almost a week waiting for another truck (slip seating), and ultimately quit while waiting and found another job.

You sure see to be determined to keep questioning this driver's credibility, why is that?
