    Has anyone had to use a portapower to jack the door frame corner to corner because of a gap at the top front corner of the door due to cab flex? And will the mid-mounted air bags have to be added to keep the problem from coming back ?

    Sounds like you have a 70" sleeper? I have heard of cab flexing problems with the 70" sleepers, and the mid mount bags seems to be the fix.

    usually just use a 2x4 between the jam and door to tweek it. it must be bad. it hapens to all petes over time just to varying degrees

    actually the 379 has a 63" flat-top the cab and frame does flex alot (307" wheelbase). I bought the truck a couple years ago from a dealer who knew no history at all about the truck. It took several mounth's to get her back in shape. In that time i found a few old repairs on the drivers side, it may have been floped at one time or has been in a bad twist. I was hoping for a one time fix. the door works well but the gap makes some wind noise lets the water sneek in a little. Over the years I have heard of adding the center air bags behind the cab but never done it or seen it done. was hoping with it being a 63" that I could strighten it and not need to put in the extra air bags. but if thay are a must than in thay go.

    I had a 2001 w/63" sleeper,had the same problem right out of the factory. As in brand new! Ptb. didn't have a bodyshop so they had an independent guy doing their warrenty work. He used 2 porta powers in an X. Ptb. mentioned the mid-ship air bags,i never went that far with it and after he straightened it out i can't recall having any trouble with it.

    If you think your cab is bent from a previous wreck I would suggest measuring across the cab door frame to door frame and comparing that measurement to a 379 cab you know to be straight. If it measures close to the same I wouldn't jack on the cab just make your adjustments on the door.

    Please explain in a little more detail, mine has a small gap at the top as well. I'm trying to draw a mental picture of where to put the 2x4.

    You actually pull the top of the door in to decrease the gap.... the wood block goes in the door jamb to hold the door open then you yank as hard as you can... old body man's trick from 100 years ago.

    well last week we did the 2x4 in the bottom of the door and two fat guys pushing in at the top of the door. now the door gap is better, will let you know after a long test flight. (extra roll of duck tape in tool box just in case) thanks guys
